Dr. Donald John Mirate, MD

we went to him for help for my son. the entire appointment was nothing more that berating me and my husband for not taking our 2 year old to him sooner. Snippy comments about other things as well. when he tells us that he cannot (later found out he simply would not) do anything for our son, we asked what long term issues he would have. His response was "He wont be a fighter pilot". To me, this was an obvious jab at my husband, as he was present in his mil. uniform. We later went to a different doctor and my son was treated and is making progress. This man seemed perfectly content to allow my son to go untreated for an issue that could cause blindness in one of his eyes.

I saw a well-known busy othomologist. He was curt, spent my time with him after about an hr. or more of waiting to see him asking me the same questions I had filled out upon arriving there; he refused to discuss my overall care, responding, "we'll talk about it after your surgery (for cataract), see my nurse to set that up. I then found on line Dr. Mirate. I found his staff extremely nice, professional, and helpful. The technician took his time while checking my eyes to allow me to decide which chart letters I saw was best for me. The doctor came in and listened to what I hoped to accomplish, gave me my options, did not rush me, and explained the pre-op to me. I was given a case with the drops I would need for pre-op, sun glasses for after surgery, and instructions. The operation was, as he had assured me, not painful and easily recovered from even though I am in my late 70's. His follow up was also courteous and I was seen at exactly my appointment time by the techncian and then by… the doctor. I have the utmost trust and confidence in Dr. Mirate. I highly recommend him.
