Dr. Donald Gene Peghee, MD

I was refer to Dr. Peghee from my Internal Med doctor. On my first visit I waited in the office for 15 minutes after filling out paperwork. The front desk person was very courteous. Doctor explain to me what he was going to do and why.

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received from Dr. Peghee. I picked a local provider because as a student here at CGSOC I did not want to miss too much class. I asked around Munson Army Health Center and was told he had great bedside manner. My first appointment went fine-we were on time, however he was not a very informative or talkative person. However, as the appointment progressed the wait times got longer for my appointments (I waited one time 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen) and the staff was not at all apologetic. My appointments were always extremely quick and he never took the time to explain anything to me-this is our first baby so we really didn't know what to expect. I would research questions and ask him when I would be due for different type of tests, etc since he wasn't offering them to me. I ended up having gestational diabetes and it took two weeks for him to confirm the diagnosis. He was gone for one week and at that point I was… already 30 weeks along, it is typically diagnosed at 27-28 weeks. Then I was put on medication and required to test myself four times a day. The whole prescription process has been a complete mess. We have been told several times that the script has been sent only to find out that the script was not sent, or the script was wrong, or the amount was wrong, etc. All these errors have forced me to purchase some items myself versus letting TRICARE pay for it because I couldn't afford to miss anymore class. We have spent way too much time dealing with prescription errors. Then he said that I would be induced but didn't even realize that he wasn't going to be here to induce me, therefore he said I needed to find a new doctor with only two weeks till the induction date. We met with the new doctor and I guess this lead to even more problems because (1) you cannot just go see a new doctor without getting a referral from Tricare first-this will generate a billing issue that you will have to deal with-however I didn't have time to clear this up prior to my last minute appointment with the new doctor(2) the new doctor was booked solid and it was difficult to get an appointment (3) the new doctor said my diabetes was poorly controlled and I should have been put on insulin a while ago (4) the new doctor didn't understand why we were trying to force the baby out early if nothing was wrong with him. The new doctor spent an hour with us going our files and counseling on what we should do, discussing a birth plan, and our options---this is something I never got with Dr. Peghee. After all this happened, Dr. Peghee seemed more concerned about making sure I scheduled my follow on OB/GYN care with him at his new office. I am so upset and way too busy with school to be dealing with this office's inability to do something as simple as get prescriptions done correctly. I advise you to find another doctor-do not use Dr. Peghee. I have spoken to TRICARE, patient advocacy at Munson and will filing a compliant with them as well. I am really upset at myself because I had this feeling that I needed to switch a while ago when the first issue happened with the lack of communication about my diabetes but I was so desperate to stay with a local doctor to avoid missing too much class. Simply put: don't go to him.

Dr. Peghee is amazing! Calm and collected all the time, professional yet caring. His patients range in age and from the grandmother to the granddaughter he explains and reassures until you are 100% confident that all your questions were answered. He never made me feel rushed and his staff was always eager to assist me.I have nothing but kind words for Dr. Peghee and his staff! If you need a physician for OB/GYN you'd be crazy to go anywhere else.
