Dr. Pennington is the Head Orthopedic Surgeon for Oregon State University football and Beaver student athletes. His practice primarily involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of sports medicine injuries of the shoulder and knee.
His special interests include arthroscopic treatment of the knee and shoulder, specifically injuries of the anterior cruciate ligament, cartilage injuries, rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability. He is the only orthopedist in the mid-Valley performing all-arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He alone performs cutting-edge techniques in cartilage restoration and cartilage transplantation procedures. He is currently teaming with the Oregon Anesthesia Group to implement the Indwelling-Pain-Catheter program for outpatient painless surgery.
Dr. Pennington is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery and fellowship trained in sports medicine. He founded Samaritan Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Center and now with his four partners offer comprehensive orthopedic care. He received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Pennington serves as a master instructor in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Rosemont Orthopaedic Learning Center. He utilizes state-of-the-art surgical procedures to enhance rehabilitation and recovery after complex surgery.
Dr. Pennington enjoys the support of his wife and three boys. He also enjoys golf, mountain biking and car restoration.
