Dr. Donna Geffner's approach to diagnosing Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) raises serious concerns. She is not a licensed audiologist and does not follow ASHA guidelines, including consulting with other specialists. Her use of outdated, unvalidated tests leads to potential overdiagnosis, and she often misdiagnoses children by failing to differentiate CAPD from other conditions like ADHD or autism. Despite developmental guidelines, she continues to assess children under seven, whose auditory processing abilities are not fully developed. Her repetitive, generic reports have led many parents and school districts to criticize her practices, with several districts refusing her services. Her evaluations have been described as a money-making scam, with little regard for the well-being of children. Parents are strongly advised to seek a second opinion from a licensed audiologist specializing in CAPD.
