Dr. Donna L Stephens MD "The Doctor and entire staff are always very friendly and professional! Absolutely love them all!!!!"

Staff was professional, MA is sweet and caring. However I have no confidence in the provider. Bedside manners and compassion should be a requirement to care for patients.

I was referred to Dr. Stephens by a friend about 3 years ago. She listens intently to my concerns, and always makes me feel like she has time to spend with me, never in a rush. She has always been compassionate, caring, and competent. I have also seen both Dr. Levoir and Gina Montie, PA in this office and they were just as caring if not more! I definently recommend this practice.

I'm not sure why some of the other reviews are the way they are but my expierience with Dr Stephens, which spans 6-7 years, has been very good. I have to admit that in making sure that I am OK she is a little pit bull. Whhat i mean by this is I have a habit of minimizing or compensationg for issues and she doesn't let me. She follows up and pays attention to what is going on. Her bedside manor has been good but again I have found her to be insistent in taknig care of my issues and perhaps that is why some do not like her manor. I have and would reccomend he to anyone.

I have referred many people to Dr. Stephens. All have been very happy with their entire visit. Her staff goes out of their way to be helpful and are very knowlegeable. Dr. Stephens never rushes me, answers all my questions, and is a sincere and careing person. I am 58 years old and have NEVER had a Doctor I liked more.

Some things cannot be taught in medical school and having a good bedside manner is one of them. Dr. Stephens does not even attempt to show compassion about your medical situation. I'm severely overweight and her only suggestion was that I "just stop" eating bad and exercise. When I tell her I have tried that and it didn't work, she only says try harder and explains how she does it. She refused to believe it when I told her I felt I was dying when I exercised until she FINALLY sent me for a stress test that showed my blood pressure was shooting through the roof when I exercised. I could have easily had a stroke. She is definitely all about you visiting over and over only to tell you the same thing over and over which is nothing that will help your true problems. The ONLY reason I could even stand going there is because there is ONE nice nurse or med asst. that works there that's always nice. She's an African American lady who is extremely nice. The rest of the staff must've gotten their… bedside manner from the Dr. herself. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!

Complaints: Dr. Stephens once told me that to treat my fibromyalgia, I should take aspirin, acetaminophen and ibuprofen all at the same time (as in, simultaneously) because one of them was bound to work. I thought, has she ever heard of liver failure?Getting Rx refills are a nightmare. She requires an office visit every 2 - 3 months to prescribe routine/maintenance medication (i.e. allergy medication; the sort that there is no diagnostic testing available for monitoring). In this scenario, you sit with her and she asks how you're doing and why you're there. I've told her that I'm fine, except for having to fight to get Rx refills and I have no idea why I need to be there; I was told I had to make an appointment. If you don't play the appointment game with her office, they will only prescribe three days to one week's worth of medication at a time. All they want is your money (and be prepared to shell it out if you lose or don't have insurance).Unfortunately, Dr. Stephens has no… concept of the value of money. When I got laid off and could no longer afford insurance, I attempted to explain my situation to her. She didnt understand why I couldnt try out new brand-name drugs, visit the office to be just be told my test results or how it was possible that Id been struggling to pay out-of-pocket for my generic Rxs. In frustration, I actually said, do you have any idea how much it is to pay retail prices for medicine and to see a specialist? She looked at me blankly, was tongue-tied for a moment and asked something to the effect as to why I couldnt get cheap insurance because she was able to so while in college. It was stunning to realize that this person has no idea about the economics of the industry she works in.The waiting room is always completely empty every time I go, yet there is still at least a 30-minute wait for each visit. I must not be the only patient who is dissatisfied with this nonsense. Take my advice: dont go.
