My experience was consistent with that of previous reviewers. You are much better off with another therapist.

Went to see her twice. She did not listen to what I said. She was very cold and showed no compassion. Would not recommend.

Right result, terrible methodologies. My partner and I sought counseling from Dr. Tonrey. What she did well was help us hate one another. We did not belong together. What she did very poorly was handle trauma and narcissism. She ignored sexual trauma and sexual health issues I had, while encouraging a very disingenous, gaslighting ex to seek the sex he needed. I think she meant well, but is not qualified to deal with complex issues or people who are relatively good at gaslighting. I am grateful that the relationship ended, but her therapy was traumatic and irresponsible.

I've seen a few marriage therapists. She is THE best bar none! Makes headway quickly, gets to the heart of the matter, and is diplomatic. But she is also honest... things don't always go the way you want them to and that is not her job to make us 'happy'. Her job is to bring the concerns you bring to her into clearer view, attempt to resolve them if possible and often find what is driving those issues from behind the scenes. Frankly - sometimes we don't want to see what is really going on. She is also a spectacular personal therapist. Made more headway in 3 months with her on my 'stuff' than I had with a so called marriage therapist in 4 years! I not only recommend her to you, I highly recommend her to my friends and family. She charges alot, but you do get what you pay for ; especially in this field.

My partner and I sought couples therapy from Donna Tonrey, and I would not recommend her to anyone. Her treatment was neither professional nor aimed to achieve the desired result with the most peace, fairness and kindness possible.

Treated with her for several years. I felt at the time she was trustworthy and genuine but my recent experiences outside the office setting have demonstrated otherwise. I would not chose her as my provider now knowing what I now know about her integrity.
