Dr. Doreen M Agnese, MD

Dr. Agnese performed surgery on me to remove a pre-cancer mass in my breast. In both pre and post-op appointments, and even on surgery day, she was always very rushed and her canned comments and responses made me feel I could be any patient. She never said anything to me that showed she had read my specific patient history (ex: no children, postmenopausal), and it was up to me to push her beneath her surface responses. I was most upset that after waiting hours for her to show up for a post-op appointment to understand my pathology results, she was only in the room 10 minutes and didn't then take the time to have a sincere, educational conversation. All I heard was there's a need to just watch things closely and do breast exams. Well, the lump I just had removed couldn't be felt, so relying on breast exams is not good enough. We discussed Tamoxifen for about one minute where she just mentioned it as an option, and it was up to me to ask specific questions about it working with my… medical history. She couldn't have cared less if I pursued therapy or not and had no investment in me and no concern for my longterm outcome, even though my breast cancer risk is 20%. She was unprofessional and unprepared. I've learned more reading online articles. It's frustrating to be hopeful going to a physician and then to have that person blow by as though the patient doesn't matter. I have no confidence in Dr. Agnese as a physician and surgeon and question her skill level, not just her poor patient communication. Now is the time for me to act on my condition before it becomes a problem, and this doctor had no urgency whatsoever. My health would be at risk if I chose to keep her as my physician, so I won't be going back to her.

Dr. Agnese is a God send. She is dedicated to her job and her patients. She has a spectacular bedside manner!!! I would place my life in her hands.
