Dr. Doron E Raphaely, MD

I've seen Dr. Raphaely off and on since 2000 for general anxiety and depression. He is great with medications and explaining options,. He treats patients with respect, is straightforward, doesn't purport to know everything, and doesn't drag things out --refreshing and rare in this profession. He is highly ethical, rather 'zen", and has a dry sense of humor. In my case, he is not a "counselor" I don't get heart to heart advice nor dissect my family and personal problems, he is more a medical doctor.

Not sure about how this doctor rates - for I have not been able to meet with him. But I can say that scheduling is a pain and I am not impressed by the front desk person. I requested to be put on a cancellation list; they did not have one but the Receptionist said she would call (if there was a cancellation) so that I could meet earlier than my scheduled appointment, which was over 2 weeks out. When I got a call, I was out with a flu which hit me hard and was not able to return the call for days and the Receptionist sounded a little disappointed with me (... oy). I could not take the time slot that had opened and opted to wait out an extra few days for my scheduled time. When I arrived at my appointed time, the Receptionist seemed a little unorganized or scattered about items on her desk. After I completed my paperwork, another person entered and stated she had an appointment (at 10am, which I was scheduled for). To which the Receptionist looked at me and told me I was scheduled… for later that afternoon (which is very highly unlikely - for I have difficulty leaving work early and just don't schedule afternoon appointments at all). So, I go to work - late - in Redmond. And had to leave early - which I'm sure Management appreciated ... after all my difficulty with keeping up with my duties due to depression... ...and I called the Receptionist to state I would be a little late because I missed my bus (again - I agree to afternoon appointments for they are difficult for me to make). Low and behold, when I arrive (30 min late - yeah I know...), the doctor can't meet with me and I had to reschedule... After some thought - meeting with a doctor shouldn't be such work -so I canceled and won't have an opportunity to receive help the Raphaely, MD. Apparently, this office just does not work with me.

I admire and respect Dr. Raphaely. He seems very wise and has been a tremendous help with my Anxiety and Depression over the 5 years that I have been seeing him. I would recommend him to anyone.The only downside is his staff. The girl in the office seems immature and has poor communication skills.

I had 2 visits with Doron and received little to no support for my issues at the time of visit. After expressing an interest in refraining from medications, he thoroughly pushed to prescribe a medication (Cymbalta) that resulted in not only a lack of improvement, but a seemingly drugged-like state to try to address the current issues. Doron seemed more interested in sharing his personal life views than listening to my concerns/issue. Good luck. Proceed with caution.

I've been seeing Dr Raphaely probably since he began his private practice. I found his initial intake interview quite extensive, and the followup visits for med-management have been great. The one time I called in crisis, after hours was quite recent. He called back within 15 minutes, from his cell phone, in the car! So, my experience has been much more positive than the other review of him. I would and have recommended him to others.

I felt that the doctor did not spend very much time diagnosing my problem and I was actually the one who decided what medication I would take. What bothered me most was his lack of follow up. I called him repeatedly to have him call me back because the uncomfortable side effects of the medication and the fact that I needed a refill. Only days after I ran out of medication did he call me back then made jokes about Viagra. I though his overall attitude lacked compassion and professionalism. I did not refill my medication and have made an appointment to see someone new.
