Dr. Douglas Sharlin Berkman, MD

Dr. Berkman performed prostate surgery on me 5 years ago, and I have continued with my follow-up with him. Dr. Berkman has always taken the time to put me at ease, and fully explain test results and options.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Berkman and his staff. Probably the worst medical experience of my life. I went in for a routine procedure and was not given the correct information. The wait time was terrible and I watched 2 people give up and leave. Dr. Berkman started the procedure and didn't numb me up enough and I felt the begging of it which caused me to have the most server panic attack I've ever had. He was not nice about it and walked away leaving me to my own devices when I was clearly in a bad place. He then said you need to go to the surgery center tomorrow without specifying anything. I did not see him again that day. I spoke to two staff members before I left and they did not give me any information or paper work. No instructions on taking care of the wound. Then we cancelled the surgery because I had no instructions and we went to the surgery center attached to the building. Given we had no instruction, what was expected? Avoid!

Words cannot describe the talent of this fine surgeon. He is truely brilliant. He is very much atuned to the complexities in his field and is profoundly attentive to his patients and the care that he provides. Thanks to this man and his expertise my husband is cancer free. He is an asset to Delaware Valley Urology.
