Dr. Douglas Charles Despain, MD

I have never met a doctor like him. Yes, he is very direct and really really rude. Said he cared about me but didn't want to do any work to see what is causing my issues, just wrote another prescription. Appeared to believe I was lying because he questioned my every answer. Told me I was an addict because I take my pain medication as prescrived?! I have anxiety issues and chronic low back pain.... this is in my chart but he sent my anxiety through the roof. No, his concern for patients as individuals has not improved and I will find a new doctor...again.

I wouldn't take my healthy ?? to see this man. He is no doctor and he don't care about any of the patients. He RUDE and unprofessional. He don't listen to anything you say to him it go in one ear and out the other like his empty head. Please don't take an elderly family member to see him. I didn't want to give any stars, but it wouldn't let me type to say anything unless I give a star and that's sad. He don't deserve a half star. All he care about is getting paid.

Never let a loved one near this man. Especially the elderly.

We've been trying to get Dr Despain to fill out the paperwork to get my 81 year old father's handicap placard renewed. He has had open heart surgery, suffers from Aortic Stenosis, is in heart failure, has kidney disease, asthma and carries Nitro pills. He is unable to even take the trash to the curb without turning completely white. According to Dr Despain he just needs exercise. He doesn't care about his patients and obviously doesn't care to read their medical files! UPDATE: After the cardiologist contacted Dr Despain and told him to fill out the paperwork for the handicap placard he was still too retarded to understand the nature of my father's disability. Luckily the cardiologist has a brain that works and he filled out the renewal himself instead of waiting for this incompetent piece of work to do it. We've also found a new primary doctor.

Very courteous and concerned. He listens to my problems and hasn't led me astray yet. He's been my doctor for twelve plus years.

I can't speak for this doctor's other patients, but if you look online at various doctor ratings, you'll see they are very low. There is a good reason for those poor ratings.

He is inattentive and uncompassionate. I have had so many problems getting prescriptions refilled, timely appointments, needed records and documents, test results given to me, etc. I still have not received my test results from six months ago that I called and called and called about. He makes you come in to see him for any little question - even ones not related to any current medical condition. Good luck getting him to write you a simple letter regarding your medical history. He'll make you pay out of pocket to come in for an appointment just to get a portion of your medical record. What a crook! I've never known any other doctor to treat their patients with such disrespect and greed.

Doesn't come in on Fridays. Very dry doc without much personality. Very nice when you can get him. We transferred out of state and found him nice initially however that has changed.
