Dr. Douglas Grayson is the best! My right eye vision gets better every day. I went to an inept eye doctor 18 months ago, for cataracts. Doctor broke my left lens while trying to extract it, and then my retina separated. My left eye is now ’as good as it’s going to get’. Should have gone to Omni Eye Service first. Staff explains everything step in simple words and calms the patient and their family with good information and expertise. Dr. Grayson is skilled and knowledgeable with a no nonsense, no excuses approach. Scared of having an eye operation? Go to the nearest Omni Eye Service office and ask for Dr. Grayson.

It has been almost 10 years and clear sight the surgery went perfect and the service from the staff superb. No problems to mention. :-)

I was scheduled to have glaucoma laser surgery today. Waited to go in back for my appointment. They were late calling me back. While in examination/surgery room waiting for doctor, aid/nurse/technician came in and picked up a piece of equipment off the floor and put it on the machine. I asked if she was going to wipe it down or disinfect it. She said no, it won't touch your eyes. I asked if that piece of surgery would be used as part of my surgery, she said yes, it was the laser. I advised that was unsanitary. She stated she would get the doctor. Doctor came in, confirmed I was getting surgery on right eye. I said yes. He proceeded to instruct aid to give me antiseptic drops, with no other communication with me. I asked him where he would be conduction surgery. He said in the same room. I further asked if he would be using the piece of equipment she had just picked up off the floor, he said yes. It wouldn't touch my eyes. I asked him where was this acceptable to use… equipment in a procedure that had been lying on the floor. He proceeded to advise the foot pedal is used in the process, but not harmful, the laser gives light. I advised the foot pedal is not used to do anything with my eyes. He saw no problem. He told me they stored in on the floor so it would get broken when falling of the equipment. In what medical universe is it "acceptable" to use surgical equipment that has been lying on the floor? He asked if I wanted drops instead, I firmly stated "no thank you" I don't desire any of your services. I had this surgery at a another facility in MD, prior to moving to NJ a few years ago, the environnment was sterile and sanitary. WHERE IS THIS OK, TO STORE AND PICK UP SURGICAL EQUIPMENT ON THE FLOOR AND USE IT ON PATIENTS. Not ok with me. I would not recommend this facility to anyone for anything!!!

I can see clearly now. I am so happy. Thank you for giving me back my vision.

When I delveloped Glaucoma my eye Dr recommend I see Dr Grayson. I had no idea what to expect going to a specialist. After seeing him the first time I knew he would be a great doctor and hopefully save my sight. At first he seemed very unfriendly, but after a few visits that changed. He is very professional and gets right to the point. He is a a very busy Doctor so waiting time is usually very long. Up to 4 hours. But remember, if you go blind its forever. So waiting to see him is well worth the wait. The longer I have been going the more open and relaxed he has become. Even when I got discouraged and thought nothing was working he explained and made me feel that the surgery was working as it should and things would be fine. The waiting time is so long because he only comes to each office a few times a month and has many many patience to see. Bring a book or something to do and be happy he is trying to save your sight.

Dr. Grayson may be an excellent surgeon (I don’t know because I will never let him operate on me) but he has the worst personality ever & was rude and condescending. He took all of 3 minutes with me after I was there 3 hours having tests & waiting to see him!

I was very touched by the working atmosphere. Everything seemed perfect everyone working in harmony. It felt like a movie where perfection was the main theme. I felt very relaxed and comforted. The surgery was done quickly and professionally. No pain after surgery and my eye were in perfect condition. Thank you, everyone, especially Dr. Grayson. God bless you.

Wait time was very long. First thing spoken was about prices (before exam began), which continued by every staff member until appointment ended (relentless discussion of prices). When doctor (Grayson) said procedure was safer if I paid extra out of pocket, I lost all confidence in him. I only saw him for about five minutes out of almost four hours at the office. When calling back with questions, I always reached an answering machine. I was told the office would not assist with extra - supplemental insurance forms and I could go fight that on my own (before even having surgery). Eventually reported the office to my insurance company who suggested I find another doctor. I then cancelled my surgery and would not - cannot recommend Omni Eye Services or this doctor. Lacks professionalism and ready to suggest surgery and price options before even examining you. Was even told (before exam began) they would prefer to do surgery in both eyes, EVEN IF NOT NEEDED, and could justify it to… my insurance by saying my glasses would not be balanced. The doctor doesn't seem to have time to spend with patients (assembly line with a packed waiting room), every staff member seemed trained for non-stop discussion of prices (more like sales-people than doctors), I had concerns over safety ("pay above what insurance will cover for a safer procedure"), amount of actual time with the doctor I was supposed to see was minimal (five minutes out of four hours!) with half his time spent talking about prices, etc. I am glad I did not pursue surgery with this practice and will start over with a new doctor. I'm actually glad a cataract is not life threatening and I have time to look elsewhere.

Dr Grayson did both my eyes recently this year and my surgery was a success.I am seeing wonderful. Dr Grayson gets straight to the point. He briefly says hello and performs your surgery. I was followed up by my Opthamologist Dr. Arturi. The staff at Essex is wonderful.I know its wonderful when a doctor has a great bedside manner and excellent surgical skills.The most important skill is the surgical skills of your surgeon and Dr. Grayson does have excellent surgical skills.
