Dr Douglas Katsev

Dr. Katsev is the best doctor in Santa Barbara. His new clinic he built is beautiful and the staff are all exceptional. He is working with most of the same staff from Sansum and it seems like a family over there. Dr. Katsev not only has the best training but great bedside manner. He really cares about me and my eyes. After my surgery I have never seen better. He gave me his cell phone to call with any problems and told me to call whenever. I could not recommend Dr. Katsev or Santa Barbara Eyecare more.

I've seen Dr. Katsev a number of times over the last year and a half for a couple of problems and based on my experience and the other reviews I've read, I will be changing doctors. Although he is very friendly, he seems to always be involved with other patients and/or phone calls during the exam, and his time with me has always seemed rushed and has always been interrupted at least once, sometimes more. Doesn't take the time to really explain the problem or treatment, either. Now he says I need cataract surgery--when he started talking about "going back to do "touch-up surgery if necessary" I started to wonder. I've never had a surgeon talk about potential "touch-up" surgery, much less prior to the initial surgery! There is no reason why a good opthalmic surgeon should be planning corrective surgery for this unless he is in the "habit" of making mistakes or doing a sloppy job. It won't be happening on my eyes....In addition, when I wanted him to do my vision exam for new… glasses, the staff told me they would schedule me with their optometrist. So I guess he doesn't do "ordinary" vision exams. I said "No thanks" and had my eye exam done elsewhere for much less money.
