Dr. Douglas Bruce Masson, MD

Seem like a nice Doctor. Had Radial prostatectomy on 12/25/2019. Had lots of pain and discomfort for 12 days while cauterized. He showed no sympathy. Failed to give me give me my prostate biopsies gleason report before surgery and my prostate biopsies info after surgery. I ended up changes doctors due to lack of communication and his rough treatment. 3 1/2 year later I have hardly no bladder control. I go thru 6 to 9 mens pads, due to incontinence. I go thru 6 to 9 pads a day due to incontinence.

On my appointment with him this week I asked him why a new substance (chemo hormon - - - - - -? was added to the Lupron for injection for my prostate cancer. He would not explain it to me and insisted that it be done. The side effects were terrible. My hands shook so much that I could hardly use them and I had terrible chills. I am 90 years old and I am the care giver for my wife with whom I've been married for 70 years. She is disabled with dementia and I have to be able to give her care at all times and prepare our meals and do the housework etc. This experience can not be safely repeated. I could not reach him by telephone to explain these matters. What can be done?

The only reason I am taking the time to write this review is because I genuinely like this doctor. As a gray haired, post menopausal, Medicare covered, neurotic, sixty-seven year old...I knew it was time to deal with my chronic incontinence. Once my mind was made up to deal with it, I didn't want to wait three or more months for an appointment. Finding a urologist near my home would also be a plus. I decided to contact Az State Urology where I was connected to a friendly voice to schedule an appointment. The good news was this practice accepted Medicare and Tricare for Life insurances. I had an appointment within days and was told I would be seeing Dr. Masson. There is no doubt...I got "the luck of the draw"! During my initial appointment with Dr. Masson, there was an immediate connection. I was at ease and felt comfortable enough to ask questions. He kindly modified and adjusted his communication skils to accommodate my level of medical terminology which is pretty much zilch.… Initially, I was reluctant about the bladder sling surgery; however, after Dr. Masson explained the procedure in depth and addressed my concerns , I had a date for surgery. The procedure was successful and generated.minimal pain! I do regret I didn't have it done sooner. I can't say enough postive things about Dr. Masson and his staff. He posseses a thoughtful, conscientious bedside manner and an even better sense of humor. On top of all that...he's a TOP NOTCH doctor!

By far. the best Dr ever!

Was told surgery for prostate cancer was only option. I was supposed to be in operating room about 4 hours for Robotic surgery. I ended up being on the table for 11 1/2 hours due to Dr Masson's ineptness. I have had nothing but problems for over 4 years. I would def not recommend anyone to Dr Masson

He was the most unprofessional doctor I have ever experienced. He was rude, didn't wash his hands, was 40 minutes late to our appointment without even checking in, started a very delicate procedure without checking if the medication had taken effect, broke sterile field repeatedly, HORRIBLE bedside manner. I'm filing a complaint against him both with TVC as well as the medical review board. Thanks to him I will never step foot in a TVC again!

Made assumptions of home life based on occupation. Told me I was a hypochondriac.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! He is the best Urologist I have ever been to.

I've known Dr. Masson for the last 12 years and he's an excellent surgeon. However i dont understand some of his explanations. He is sometimes tough to find.

I saw him for a while. He was all I had known. But I decided to leave after he stopped trying to help me and lost his compassion that he had in the beginning. The wait time got much longer each visit and then he would spend less time with me. For the most part, his attitude changed, lost any sense of humor, and made me feel unimportant. He clearly got to busy and lost his love for the job! It is to bad! Not to mention, terrible vasectomy procedure!!! Don't make someone wait an hour and a half and then not wait for the Novocain to kick in! Clearly he was rushed to get home. Ouch!
