Dr. Alan Brendan Aker, MD

Not only is Dr. Aker my favorite ophthalmologist, he's my favorite physician I've had over the course of my entire life. The entire staff is friendly and genuinely caring.

I was a hospice nurse, sometimes on the road after dark and couldn't read any of the street signs and the halos around all the street lights were so difficult to see, really huge and blinding. Other ophthalmologists said to wait until they got worse. Dr. Aker examined me and said, that's nonsense. There's no reason to wait. He scheduled me for surgery the following week on the first eye and the week after that for the second eye. The surgery was so easy and he was so caring and gentle with me, as was all his staff. That was in 2003 and here, fifteen years later, my vision is still 20/20 as it was immediately after with no complications whatsoever, and I see a doctor in his office every year or two for my checkups and wouldn't go anywhere else. I could not recommend Dr. Aker and his staff enough! They are by far the best in the area!

His expertise and bedside manner are impeccable

Dr. Aker told me how crystalens would be the way to go for me. He said no glasses for reading or distance. I had cataracts and if I had corrective vision for distance only my insurance would have covered the entire cost. Because I believed in him I went with crystalens. From the start my vision was poor for distance and progressively deteriorated. Reading isn't as good as before surgery. Told him about this on several occasions & he said it will get better. Went back after 2 years as I went back to glasses and prescription increased each year. He said your too much of a prefectionist, then charged me $400 for that visit because billing said only 1 year warantee & said your insurance pays for it & they still had the nerve to charge a co-payment of $9.04 after insurance paid. He only cares about BILLING, not about what's best for patient.

Dr. Alan Aker recently performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I am elated with the results and I am extremely pleased with the entire experience. Dr. Aker is truly a wonderful doctor. My entire experience at the Aker-Kasten Center was exceptional. The staff was friendly, made me feel comfortable and at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Aker. The quality of care I received was extraordinary.
