Dr. Albert Sidney Cytryn, MD

I came to Dr Cytryn bc he had a picture on his website of a patient with the same condition as me (xanthelasma). His solution was to do a usual eye job with some adjustments to get all the xanthelasma. I've had bits of the xanthelasma removed before, and he explained to me why that didn't work, and why he thinks this will work. It's been 4 months and it looks good. My eyelids folds and bags are gone too. It's serious surgery, with recovery time, but I am very happy with the results so far.

I was recommended by my retina doctor to visit him for a removal of a little bit of fat build up under my right eyelid. He began to push me into getting surgery that i did not want on both upper eyelids. He was not very specific on what he was going to do, but he was certain that he was going to "fix" the symmetry of my eyes. I did not ask for that nor did I even come in for that originally. He took it upon himself to do that surgery, after he was done I asked him what he had done specifically and he was giving me vague answers while also avoiding the question. While he did end up getting rid of the fat build up under my eyelid, he still ended up cutting muscles, tendons and along with skin on my upper eyelids which were unnecessary. This permanently damaged my upper eyelids, now I cannot close them completely when I blink and I cannot properly fall asleep because when I try they open up. Even after 2 reconstruction surgeries to fix what he messed up I still cannot live a normal life… with my eyelids. It has been two years and I still am suffering with what he did to me. I strongly do not recommend him, please take it from my experience he is not someone that you want to trust.

In 2019, I had both upper and lower blepharoplasty by Dr. Cytryn. Dr.Cytyrn assured me that he knew what he was doing and that it would be an easy and simple procedure. He made the statement that I would also love his work, which gained my confidents. Once the procedure was over, I looked at the stiches he made across my eyes. I was devastated because I knew I had big problems! I was so dissatisfied with Dr. Cytryn surgical skills. The stitches he made across my eyes were not precise and looked like railroad tracks. He cut all the up to my eyebrows. I immediately questioned Dr. Cytryn about why the stitches looked so sloppy? He responded by telling me it was from the swelling. I was told that too much fat had been taken out, and too much skin was cut. Dr. Cytryn removed too much fat and cut away too much skin from my upper eyelids. The asymmetry in my L” and R’ eye are both different, both lower drooping eye (ptosis) which I’m seeking find another surgeon to fix it.

For several years I was tormented with very dry eyes and no one could help me until I got to the Dr. Cytryn’s office. He brilliantly performed Bilateral eyelid Canaliculoplasty. And now all my problems with dryness are gone!!! I turned to the doctor for the second time since my eyes were with fatigue syndrome; I constantly wanted to open my eyes wider or hold my eyelids with my hands. Brilliant results!!!! I look much younger. And I get a lot of compliments. Doctor Cytryn is a wonderful and honest professional. He is impeccable in his diagnosis and very accurate in work. I've seen Dr. Cytryn twice in the last 30 days - both due to basketball injuries; first an elbow to the eye and second a head-butt to the mouth. In the first instance, Dr. Cytryn's work was, well, absolutely perfect!!! I say this for two reasons: First, a month after the injury I can barely tell I was opened up and that months from now there will be nothing even visible whatsoever. This is after an injury that opened me up and made it look like I had an eyeball over my eyeball. Second, the contrast between his work and others is remarkable; I have a similar scar from a similar injury on my other eye from years back. At that time I was referred to a "top shelf" plastic surgeon who still practices in the area. The difference between the two scars are night and day - If I were to rank Dr. Cytryn's work compared to the the other plastic surgeon's work it would be a 10 compared to a mere 6!!! Really!!! A couple days ago I went back to Dr. Crytryn for the head-butt to the jaw. In… this instance my teeth went right through my lips. I insisted on Dr. Cyctrn being the one to stitch me back up. Three days out I cannot believe what I'm looking at. I assume this will turn out fantastic as well. Thanks Dr. Cytryn!!! You a scar genius!!! If you are worried about scarring - look no further. My final outcome from my lower eyelid blepharoplasty was exceptional . (7) weeks have gone by since the surgery and I could truly say that this was life changing -l look younger and refreshed! Thank you!

Because of a previous botched eye surgery performed many years ago by another doctor, I was left with multiple functional issues that resulted in severe ectropion and dry eye. While Dr. Cytryn is highly skilled and gifted in cosmetic facial surgery, he is also an expert in repairing eyes that do not function properly. Due to my complicated eye problems, Dr. Cytryn has had to perform several surgeries to repair the damages caused by the original surgery. With each surgery, he has gotten me closer to the goal of both eyes being able to close completely and to lessen the symptoms of my dry eye. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Cytryn and his practice. He has several locations in Maryland, Virginia, and one in Washington DC. I see him at his Bethesda office. It is clean, modern, and includes a surgical center. His staff is professional and friendly. They are highly knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you. Prior to each surgery, my consultations with Dr. Cytryn… showed him to be sympathetic to all of my concerns. He is honest, confident, and reassuring. He is patient and takes as long as needed to discuss every aspect of your surgery with you. He has a kind, warm, and caring personality and his skill level is outstanding. If you want beautiful and natural results, Dr. Cytryn is the doctor you want for your surgeon. I feel fortunate to know Dr. Cytryn, and I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Very good experience. The procedure was on schedule and I had no complications. Dr. Cytryn responded to my call on the weekend and was pleasant to deal with. The staff and surgery center were first class.

My wife underwent a procedure with Dr. Cytryn under local anasthetic. He did very little pre-Op examination and his staff did not adequately prepare my wife for the procedure. It was far more invasive than they explained. It was good that I went with her because she was in no condition to drive and was traumatized after the procedure. I do not joke when I say childbirth was easier for her. Eye was completely swollen shut. To add, He has ZERO bedside manner. Spent no time with her. His center is more like a factory than a facility that cares for patients. I would highly recommend considering alternatives if you are referred to his practice.
