Dr. Beier was the first person to take us seriously in over a year. Our child was having headaches and loss of appetite. No other medical professional believed he was having vp shunt issues as he was not vomiting. She told us we were going to get to the bottom of it, and she did. MRI showed slight change in size of ventricles, eye exam showed no pressure on optic nerve, so she performed a shunt ?probe? to check pressure within the pump. Turns out the interior catheter was intermittently clogged. She replaced it with new catheter, and we his demeanor improved almost immediately upon waking. No more fussiness. This was at the age of 3. He suffered for over a year with headaches he could not tell us about. Now is over 4 and has had no problems since.
