Dr. Brian Allan Silvia, MD

I have never encountered a doctor as rude as Dr. Silvia. I did not pick him as a doctor but got him due to being admitted to the hospital from an accident. The first time I met him he came into my room, did not introduce himself and started lecturing me about my accident. He did not care about my pain level. The nurses were wonderful and advocated the best they could for me, but he refused to try other pain meds. I would not recommend him due to his bedside manner being horrible.

Extremely thorough Dr. Goes to extra measures to make sure you don't get infection. Very educated and researches constantly to continue to bring the best results possible.

Dr Silvia was straight to the point about the facts involving my surgery. Excellent doctor.

My father had knee revision surgery since he is in his 80's, I was shocked that he was discharged the next day. He was no where near being ready. We felt like this surgeon decides they are going home no mater what after a day. Yes he could navigate with help but no one was prepared to become a nurse immediately after discharge. He was still in unmanaged pain and going to skilled care was out of the question because (we were told) that this surgeon doesn't believe in rehab services because the patient will become too dependent and not do for themselves as much as they would on their own at home. We found that he couldn't go to skilled care (we could not handle the aftercare ourselves) because he had not spent 3 days in the hospital. We had to patch together services from home health nurse and retired relatives who were in the health care field. He might be a skilled surgeon but he needs to reassess his compassion factor and ask more questions of family and do what is best for the… total patient in the recovery stage. Tossing someone out the next day might work for some younger people but not seniors.

I am so upset with this Doctor for the care he has given my sister. It has been 9 months since her knee surgery (replaced the kneecap which is the stupidest thing I have ever heard) and she is in so much pain (more now then before). He didn't care at all what she had to say and what she wanted. He just did what he wanted. He is a very unprofessional and I wouldn't refer any of my friends to him.

I waited over a month to get into see Dr. Silvia. He had his mind made up before he walked through the door what the diagnosis was. He never even examined me. No MRI... Just his textbook judgement. VERY RUDE.

I was very fortunate to have Dr Silvia as my surgeon. I am walking without aid. Sorry to hear he has left BMC practice.
