Dr. Devon Lewis Evans, MD

Dr. Evans has been my oncologist for 6 years. I gave him a 5 stars because of his compassion, patience, knowledge and level of care. He has treated me like a person and not a number. I trust him and am happy he is my doctor.

As a new resident of the state of Maine last year, I was diagnosed with lymphoma shortly after relocating. As such, I was suddenly thrust into a medical system that was completely unfamiliar to me. That, in addition to the myriad of fears that a cancer patient faces, I was ridden with anxiety. The stars aligned for me the day that I was told Dr. Evans would be my oncologist. Upon meeting Dr. Evans, he immediately put my mind at ease – not only with his compassionate bedside manner, but also with his overall knowledge about my disease, my treatment plan, the details he provided as to how he would guide me through my journey with cancer, etc. My words here fail to describe the incredible care that I received from Dr. Evans and his staff – primarily his wonderful nurse practitioner, Sarah Boucher. My overall health was always a priority to both Dr. Evans and Sarah, and they always took whatever time was necessary to provide the most thorough, empathetic care that I could hope to have.… Whether it was during an office visit or on a phone call, I inevitably had many questions about my health, tests that I was undergoing, my prognosis, etc. Both Dr. Evans and Sarah patiently and thoroughly answered every single question that I had. Their calming presence and incredible knowledge about every aspect of my health have carried me through my journey to becoming a survivor. I feel SO VERY fortunate to have Dr. Evans as my oncologist. Both his and Sarah’s excellent care and positive energy were absolutely a critical part in powering me through to becoming a survivor.

Find a doctor who will give you the time you deserve and not one looking to see patients as fast as possible and tell you, “maybe this made you a stronger person” after your two major surgeries and 12th chemo. I wish I had told him he should undergo a bunch of chemos To see how beneficial his comment was. A total jerk.

After being blindsided with a diagnosis in 2013, I was put in the care of Dr. Evans. He helped me remain calm in an upsetting situation; clearly explained my options, and was always readily available if I had a question. Through my annual check ups over the past 5 years; he has always been prompt with his appointments and professional. I would highly recommend considering him should you find the need for a doctor in this field.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Dr. Evans was very unprofessional in that he read the MRI results of the brain for the first time in front of the family and my dad instead of taking them back to his office to review before he spoke to the family about it. He never explained fully the radiation side affects only that my dad would be very tired the second week. The second week my dad got thrush, sore gums, and could not swallow losing 10 pounds. No one called my dad to see how he was doing on the radiation treatments. Radiation was started 3 days later after the MRI results which was very little time to think about the whole thing. I feel radiation was pushed upon my dad. My dad is not alive today due to the radiation given him and lack of follow up with the doctor.

It is wonderful to find a doctor that one can trust in completely. He sincerely cares about his patients more than his wallet. Doctor Evans is a very competent and caring doctor, he is a credit to his profession and a fine human being.

Nothing but praise for the Doctor who saved my life I feel. He never scared me or talked like i was terminal or unhelpable. Great bedside mannor and just a really nice person you could open up to with fears or concernes. He wanted all of your questions on the table. I'm in 3rd year remission and he and I expect to be at the 5 year point that's considered a cure. God bless my wonderful doctors especially this one. Can't say enough good stuff about him except y family and friends love hi for saving my life. And yes I'M watersking again at 61 years old. And thank you Chantix for your part too.
