Dr. Edward John Dohring, MD

Faced with emergency surgery after suffering a herniated disc that caused significant intrusion upon the nerves, how fortunate was I to meet Dr. Dohring and his team. Held in the emergency room in North Phoenix, transferred to Scottsdale in the middle of the night and under the knife that afternoon was stressful for my wife and children. Dr. Dohring proved a strong and calming force. The trajectory of my recovery attests to his skill. I’ll be back on the golf course soon and I’ll have God’s grace and Dr. Dohring’s talents to thank for life’s continued blessings.

We cannot say enough great things about Dr. Dohring, in short, he changed our lives for the better. My husband suffered a very severe back injury over 10 years ago and thankfully he was referred to Dr. Dohring. It has been a long, difficult road but Dr. Dohring has been with us every step of the way. His level of expertise, compassion, dedication, care and support is beyond compare. Today, my husband is much improved, and his quality of life is so much better, all thanks to Dr. Dohring and his exceptional level of commitment to providing the very best care possible. My husband refers to Dr. Dohring as his 'hero'...a title most well deserved! Thank you Dr. Dohring!

This guy is a Liar and a Havk of a surgeon! He told me he was going to do surgery on my spine T 10 - S 1 fusion with rods. What he did was have a resident do the surgery he watched !! Now that surgery needs to be re done by a different Orthopedic surgeon. I happened after being chemically burnt in a hot tub where I live . I jumped out of the hot tub into a shallow end of the pool for relief.That’s when my back was injured, he said he would help in lawsuit but didn’t . Now he won’t even see me, so I had to find a new surgeon. He doesn’t care about patients he hack up . A liar and total unprofessional jerk .! Don’t let this Narcissism fool hack on you !!!!!

I had four neck operations by Dohrind. Workers comp doctor, the worst ever. Wont take any responsibility. What he does with workers comp should be illegal. Dont understand why he is honest.

I came to Dr. Dohring and his team after being told by two other physicians there was nothing that could be done to relive my pain. After a couple studies and really taking some time with my diagnosis, Dr. Dohring informed me he thought he could help me. After nearly 12 hours of surgery over two days, and some hard work in PT, and the gym, I'm happy to say I am lower back pain free and playing golf 3 days a week with no pain!!

I recently had cervical spine surgery. Dr Dohring spent so much time reviewing, explaining and provided all information I could possibly need. This is the first surgery I have ever had which was pain free. Felt uncomfortable for a few days, but never had pain. Am so glad I traveled from another state for this fabulous doc

I had surgery on my cervical spine. The surgery helped tremendously and I had no pain. Was a little uncomfortable for a few days, but had no pain. No sore throat and a small incision compared to other people. He is truly a fantastic surgeon.

I had seen Dr Dohring on work Comp. My W/C was shut off immediately after my appt so I never got to see him again. He’s a wonderful Dr that puts you at ease and has a great bedside manner. I’m not allowed to continue with him, but have another Dr they want me to see. Dr Dohring and his staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Great surgeon. Will spend all the time you need going over specifics when contemplating surgery. This will end up causing delays for people after you, however it is reassuring. Not a cutter, and is very careful prior to recommending any procedure. He takes the time afterward to make sure you are comfortable and progressing as expected.

My husband had two surgeries from Dr. Dohring. The second one turned into a nightmare! Right after his surgery, Dr. Dohring came out and specifically told me to make sure my husband wore his back brace 24/7 except when he showered starting ASAP! He failed to notify the his staff. 2 hours after my husband got out of surgery, the Physical Therapist Assistant at the hospital wanted to get my husband out of bed to walk around. I told him what Dr. Dohring said and the PT said " We don't do that here, he meant when you get home!" I told him again and to check with the doctor first BEFORE getting him out of bed. I told him I was going to the car to get my husband's back brace and to NOT get him out of bed until I got back. When I got back, I walked back to the unit and they had my husband standing with a walker. As soon as I walked up, my husband fell to the ground and all the staff backed away!! They didn't even help him up, I helped him up and got him off the floor! I got him back into bed… and yelled at them for not listening. He fell because of a severe nerve pain that shot down his leg and legs started cramping really bad. 3 hours later Dr. Dohring came by to check on him and apologized for his staff. Then, he ordered my husband Percocet for the pain. The meds made my husband really nauseous. So, I told the nurse to ask the doctor for T3. She refused and ignored us, not contacting the doctor for another medication. Food trays started stacking up in his room until I told them to get rid of it. The night staff was able to get an order for something else and something for the nasuea. Then the same RN came back the next morning and again refused to give him anything other then the Percoset. I finally had to go to the DON and they gave him his T3. The cramping continued and it was attributed to nerve damage. He didn't have it ever before this incident. His follow up appointments, he was treated like he was full of crap and nothing was EVER mentioned about the incident in ANY medical notes. The cramping wasn't mentioned in his file until 4 months later even though we told the doctor that night and every visit afterwards. Since this was a workman's comp. case, he tried to close his case within a month and a half after his surgery. We insisted on an X-ray, which clearly showed another buldge, which he tried to deny and finally said, "it's a small one but it could be degenerative and due to regular wear and tear! He tried pawning us off on his PA "Dr. Bill" who clearly has an issue with women. We refused to see him at all because of his bad attitude. Dr. Dohrings visits became shorter and was clearly no longer interested in my husband's condition. He said there was quite a bit of scar tissue and had the nerve to brag about his "new procedure" that reduced scar tissue. And I reminded him that I didn't care about his other patients, only mine. Then he said that it didn't work on a small percentage of his patients and my husband was unfortunately part of that percentage and even gave my husband exercises to do to break up the scar tissue. And guess what, after admitting there was alot of scar tissue to us, he wrote in my husbands file that there were minimal scar tissue! He walked out worse then he did when he first walked in the door, refused to fix the chronic nerve damage HIS staff created because he was to busy to make a 3 minute call and tell them to make sure he wore his back brace. Dr. Dohring is a workman's comp doctor and will do whatever workman's comp tells him to. He will lie and when he and his staff screw up, he will not take responsibility! He will lie and fudge his paperwork in order to keep from getting in trouble or upsetting workman's comp. It's unfortunate because as a surgeon, he probably is really good and mistakes do happen, but when you refuse to take responsibility for yours or your staff screw up, lie on your reports,try to cover it up and try to get rid of your patient in order from being found it, while not once trying to fix the damage you cause, then your integrity is in serious question and is this really the kind of doctor you want?
