Dr. Eric Matthew Acheson, MD

My husband had a hemicolectomy for possible due to a leak in the intestines he has now been fighting for his life for a month and 15 days. No end in sight at this time. I think this could have been avoided if the physician had listened to the family or the nurse after surgery with concerns instead of just saying it was a big surgery. They seem very nice and pleasant but very self assured that they know best when they did not. Oh and they have not checked on him since the third surgery to repair the first surgery so apparently they do not care about the patient. It’s just a pay check.

I would recommend AVOIDING this surgeon! I went to this surgeon because I suspected that I had a hernia of the stomach (ventral hernia). Dr. Atcheson performed a "visual" exam only and recommended robotic arthroscopic surgery and surgery was scheduled and performed less than one week later. Dr. Atcheson never reviewed 2 previous recent CT scans of my stomach even though he had access to the hospital provided scans nor did he order or perform his own scan before performing the surgery to repair the ventral hernia. However, once he started the surgery, he discovered that there was no ventral hernia and he concluded the surgery. He has "no idea" what the lump in my stomach is caused by. In my opinion, this is the most most outrageous example of incompetence and unprofessionalism by a surgeon in my experience.

My wife died of gastric surgery, lasted only 2 days after the surgery. She had many illnesses. Heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and other she was 68 yrs old, the hospital didn't check for leaks when discharged. I wouldn't recommend this surgery to my worse enemy

My wife died having gastric surgery to lose weight. She had many illnesses heart attack, heart failure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, sleep apnea, used oxygen daily, she was 68 years old, had the surgery on Monday and died on Wednesday she shouldn't have had this surgery at this age. Now, I'm stuck with all these bills and very lonely. I wouldn't recommend this surgery to my worse enemy.

Professional. Very nice office staff. My daughter is a nurse. I set her on finding the right surgeon for an umbilical hernia. Funky result of gall bladder removal. I did not care for the surgeon my internist referred me to. Other surgical room nurses and techs kept coming up with one name. This fellow is the best at what he does.

Highly positive experience. I had three hernias at once in the right groin area. Never any pain, never any problem. His attitude and positivity are an attribute.I will be seein him soon for a hieta hernia that has developed. That tells it all as far as how I feel about Dr. Acheson.

Excellent Surgeon!!! Kind, gentle, warm and caring bed-side manner. Saved my life, literally. Went into St. David's North near death and his surgery and expertise puled me thru. Always put me at ease with his stunning smile, too. ONLY Surgeon I would ever have here in Austin!!! I have already suggested him to a neighbor, too.

I had both gallbladder removed and hernia repair with both surgeries performed by Dr Eric Acheson. I would highly recommend him as a surgeon. Great, down to earth type of guy...great bedside manner...very matter of fact type of person. I feel like he gave me my life back
