This was one of the most unsatisfactory medical experiences I’ve had thanks to Dr. Herman’s chronic lateness. My previous GI doctor had moved so my GP—and other health professionals—highly recommended Dr. Herman. My initial consultation with him for a pre-colonoscopy was 90 minutes late. My colonoscopy was even worse: 2 hours late! Which meant by time it was time to put an IV in, I was even more dehyrdrated than normal; it took three painful tries (one heating a nerve!) before a vein with adequate blood could be found. The nurses were making plenty of excuses for Dr. Herman, saying he was such a great guy and loved to talk (which was their code for why he was running late I assume) but I never felt that. When he came to recovery bedside, he was curt and to the point; didn’t stay for questions and rushed next door to next patient. Moral of story, according to the nurse who escorted me out, is to make first of day appointment with Herman if you want to see him. Otherwise plan to WAIT.

Referred to Dr. Herman by a friend. This Practice was run very well with a professional and courteous staff and kind a kind , caring Doctor. I was very impressed and shall not hesitate to refer to friends.

Dr. Herman has been my doctor for many years. I had a colonoscopy yesterday at Virginia Hospital Center. Once again it was an exceptionally easy process. Dr. Herman is gentle, kind, thorough and explains results quickly. I appreciate Dr. Herman coming to the recovery room soon after my procedure so that I can leave the hospital ASAP! I was diagnosed with possible cirrhosis from another physician. I saw Dr Herman for another opinion, he ordered another test from Sibley Hospital. Dr Herman called that evening himself with much better results. He was very thorough and very caring to let me know himself of the results. I can’t him enough for all the help and kindness. Highly recommended Dr Herman.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Gabriel Herman and the care we get from the Gastroenterology Center of Northern Virginia. Both my wife have been seeing Dr. Herman for over 10 years and we are very selective in our choice of doctors. We have found him to be very dedicated to his patients and the care they receive. He is extremely proficient, professional and takes the time to explain his findings and answer your questions. You will not find a more talented gastroenterologist with a better bedside manner.

My rating is due to the total lack of responsiveness of Dr. Herman's support staff. In a two week period I made approximately 8 calls during normal business hours per the web site and only once was the phone ever answered. I left messages all other times requesting call backs and only once ever received a call back and that was half a day later when I was no longer available. I permanently canceled my procedure because I lost all confidence in this organization. I feel sorry for Dr. Herman for having such incompetent and non-responsive staff.

Dr. Herman discussed the results of my procedure with my wife and me. I have been a patient of Dr. Herman for several years. When I needed to reach out to him for information regarding the procedures that he completed, I have always felt that he provided me with a thorough outline of the results and other information that I needed.
