Dr. Gary Paul Fait, MD

When I was 28 years old I found a breast lump. I had seen Dr. Fait prior to that for a second opinion on my miscarriage and, while he didn’t seem to know much about my condition, his bedside manner was decent, so I stayed with him. When I went to visit him with my breast lump he felt it and asked me, “Are you coming up on your period soon?” I replied that I was and he laughed at me in an incredibly condescending way before replying, “You NEVER check for breast lumps before your cycle. It’s a cyst. You’re fine.” I told him I was just doing what women are told to: visit their doctor when they’ve found a lump. He said, “Sure, just not before their period,” and literally walked out the door. I was humiliated that he made me feel like this was something I should’ve known, but I know now this isn’t common knowledge for those that aren’t obstetricians. He seems to be good for his patients that he’s had for years and years, but new patients won’t get the best of him. I’ve since found an OBGYN… that is patient and informative.
