Dr. Leslie Cheryl Abitz, MD

She is literally the worst doctor I have ever been to. She has the most awful bedside manner and to many patients to actually keep up with any of them. I cried with pain from my first exam and she told me I shouldn’t be crying in pain because at least I don’t have cancer. Guess what, I have cancer now and she refuses to address the pain I am in. She also forced me into having an IUD put in even though I refused several times, but it was the only way she would put me under for a biopsy because so was in so much pain. Pretty sure if I would have let her put the IUD in from the start I’d probably have cancer and not know it.

When treating patients, no matter your belief, should not impact the way you treat a person. The unprofessional nature in which a family member of mine was treated is unacceptable. The blatant lies that were shared in hopes to coerce her patient is unacceptable. To make matters worse, once she knew she couldn't manipulate the patient, her care of the patient diminished and was rude and cold to her. It saddens me that she believes this is a healthy way to practice medicine. If there is a way to put a negative score, that would be most appropriate.

I had her as a dr. in 2008. She is the reason I lost my baby girl to preeclampsia. She wasn't testing my urine like she should have been. This is something that could have been caught. I called her and told her I was cramping and bleeding and she told me to wait till my next appointment to see her. I ended up going to the ER that same day, and found out my baby no longer had a heartbeat, and she was stillborn, at 32 weeks pregnant. If you want a dr. who doesn't really pay attention to your needs, then she is the one for you.

If you want to feel just a like a number and not a person. She's your girl! If you want a doctor to rush through and not include you in, she's perfect for you :-( if you want to wait a week and a half for your results, and then just end up calling to get them. Then she's the doctor for you and her nurse. I will never recommend her to anyone I like.

I had her for all 7 of my pregnancies. If you are looking for a dr that is straightforward, honest, tells you exactly how it is, and what to expect, then she is who you should see. I was a teen mom, I had 3 kids by the time I was 19. She never talked down to me, or treated me with less respect because I chose to not use birth control. My 1st 6 deliveries were all the same, me needing to be induced, because my labors never started on their own. Not only was she there for all of them, but she was my trusted advocate. I told her no matter what, I do not want csections. When the nurses would get me all panicky because my labor didn't progress, dr.abitz let me wait it out because she respected the fact that I didn't want to jump into a csection just to cover themselves in case something went wrong, andI file a lawsuit. 12 days ago my water broke pprematurely at 16 weeks. Prior to this, I was bleeding constantly for 2 weeks. Dr abitz saw me twice a week to continue checking the heartbeat, … my cervix, and ultrasounds. Nothing abnormal was detected, but she didn't sugarcoat it and told me statistics of miscarriage were up, and obviously theres no way of knowing. When I went to the er after my water broke, and the baby came, I was seng upstairs and dr abitz was there. She was just as sympathetic to me, having already 6 kids, as she would have been to a mother having lost her 1st child. She gave me time for my body to try and get rid of the placenta, and she took it out manually and took me to the csection room after to ensure it was all out. She treated my husband and I wonderfully and I am very grateful for her to have been there for all 7 times, with the last being the only actual delivery she missed. She is blunt, but honest. If youre looking for a dr that respects you and your rights, she will be an advocate for you. If you want a dr that sits there holding your hand, talking quiet and calmly as he tries to convince you on why you need this test, or tries to talk you into something they know you dont want, then shes not the one. She will tell you want can happen if you dont do something, and not to make you change your mind, but to make sure you made your decision knowing there can be unintended consequences. She is the best dr ive ever worked with, and by far the only one ive ever felt on my side, who respects my wishes and wont be afraid to relay them to the nurses while youre in labor. After working with her for 6 1/2 pregnancies, after births, and 12 years, I feel I have a right to speak up and say, as my lengthy experience with her shows, she is an excellent dr, trusted, and is as caring and real as they come. I have recommended her to many people over the years, and no one has ever had any problems with her either.

I don't even know how to express how awful our experience was with Dr. Abitz. She was the doctor on call when we had our first baby. The nurse called her when it was time to come in and my husband could hear her on the phone with the nurse as she said to the nurse "I'm sick of coming in for these girls that get epidurals and then I get there and they don't know how to push. Have her do some practice pushing, then call me back." SO I did ONE practice push and the baby was coming out already....needless to say she did NOT make it there in time. My husband and ONE nurse did the delivery, as it only took me two more pushes to get the baby out. When Dr. Abitz did finally show up, she said nothing to me or my husband. She stood a few feet away from the foot of my bed (the end of the bed had not even been taken off yet because of the haste) as she pulled the umbilical cord to remove the placenta. Once that was done she took her gloves off, said "Congratulations", and walked out of the… room. Our visit the next morning with her did not go any better, when she came to "check" on me. After the fact, I had horrible sharp pain from a vaginal tear that she, of course, had not seen, because she never even checked me while she was in the delivery room with me. I was in horrible pain for the 6 weeks until my check-up with my normal O.B. doctor and she had to cauterize the tear (OUCH!) because it had healed wrong because of not being stitched in the hospital. After a few weeks, the pain finally went away. Needless to say, I wil NEVER see Dr. Abitz again, and I will not recommend her to anyone.

I thought Dr. Abitz was fantastic. I went to her for a coloscopy after having an irregular pap smear and HPV. I was so nervous and scared of having cancer. She put me at ease right away. She took the time to explain things and answer any questions. She talked me through the procedure. Before I knew it, it was over. I would highly recommend Dr. Abitz.

As others have already said in these reviews. She absolutely does not listen to any of your concerns and does exactly what she wants to do despite your concerns. She was my doctor during my first (and only)pregnancy, this being the case I didnt know what to expect. People were completely shocked that I never received a sonagram at any point during the pregnancy. And when it came down to delivery she was nowhere to be found, my daughter was delivered by some male doctor I had never met or heard of. She showed up the next morning with her daughter in tow (about 6 yrs old) and I got charged for that! All she did was say hello and nothing else. I couldnt believe it. I had such a sour taste in my mouth as a result of my experience that I vowed I would never go back again then I had to return because of some serious concerns on my part. Recently, I had such a bad experience with her I have since switched doctors and it is a very good thing because this doctor is wonderful and she… actually listens to what you have to say and takes your concerns to heart. Dr. Abitz failed to find an ovarian cyst that I had. Instead she told me to wait ( no testing) and have a hysterectomy in summer. She also sent me to a neuologist saying it was all in my head. Within 24hrs of changing doctors, I was diagnosed with the ovarian cyst. Four days later it was removed. I will NEVER go to her or suggest anyone goes to her either.

i feel she did not diagnose me with Pre-eclampsia when that is what i had. it caused the death of my baby at 32 weeks, and still havent gotten over this. I would most definitely NOT go back there or send anyone else to her. She was rude, and didn't listen to me. I heard from several other people after i had my baby that she was not good. Please don't go to her.
