Dr.Banaver did a wonderful job on my son's survey, I would highly recommend him.

During [...] time before and during surgery [...], many of the staff (anesthesiologist, surgeon, etc) seemed to have a set and formulaic way of talking to children, which they used without ever checking to see how it was being received by my 3-year[..]. They often talked about video games and high scores as a way to get him to take deeper breaths. He doesn't really know what video games are, he just turned 3 last month. They never stopped to see if he would respond or understand what they were saying. Especially when he had the mask on and was going under, there were at least 6 people in the room and they were all talking and encouraging [...] at the same time, which made for a very noisy and overwhelming experience, especially in a new room with new experiences and very bright lights. [...] seemed sort of stunned with all of that noise. I believe it could have been much calmer and more soothing to only have one voice talking to him and less shouting about high scores, etc.… Especially if the parent is there with the child to provide comfort.
