Dr. Gregory Simon Schenk, MD

Dr. Schenk is a caring, intelligent, personable, and a professional surgeon, very thankful for being under his care. His team is helpful as well, with the busy schedule he has, they always do their best to accommodate.

I chose Dr Schenk to be my surgeon to remove my cancerous prostate via robotic surgery a year and a half ago. I am happy to say that the procedure was successful thanks to the expertise of Dr Schenk. He was always concerned with my post-op recovery and followed up with me constantly. I highly recommend Dr Schenk and the entire Urology Group team.

Dr. Schenk just perfomed urostomy surgery on me greatly improving my quality of life. Hee was very attentice to me and my wife during our consulration meetings and post surgery. He came to see me every day in the hospital and made sure I was well cared for during my stay. He pirtrays the utmist professionalism while being cimpletelt caring and compassionate. I have had a year and a half if hosputal stays in four different hospitals and the Inova Loudoun experience was by far the best. I will remain under Dr. Schenk's wonderful care.

Dr. Schenk is an excellent surgeon whose technical expertise means he is constantly in surgery, so, scheduling an office appointment is very much at his convenience. He is a deeply compassionate person so you know he really cares, and he is a likeable personality; however, his communication skills are very weak. If you ask questions, he does answer clearly and at length, but you cannot depend on him to take the initiative in explaining fully your diagnosis, your treatment, and/or your post-operative expectations. You will find yourself looking up information on the internet to educate yourself about your condition--most patients do not know enough about medicine to ask questions, which was certainly my case. He did not visit me in person in my hospital room following surgery. A nurse practitioner from his office visited me, she wrote prescriptions without explaining to me anything about them, she did not include directions for taking the prescriptions, leaving it to the discharge… nurse at the hospital to provide directions, and this nurse was 100% wrong in her directions for taking the prescriptions. Had I not called his office to get the correct information about the prescriptions, and taken the prescriptions as directed by the discharge nurse at the hospital, my health would likely have been compromised. The post-operative written instructions from the hospital were in some instances different from those from his office, so I followed what I thought I was supposed to do. When a nurse from his office called me to check up, I told her what I was doing, and she became angry with me and scolded me as if I were a disobedient child. When I pointed out to her that I was following directions from the hospital, she lost patience with me and became angry and engaged in an argument. I have never been treated disrespectfully before by medical personnel, so this was a new experience for me. Proceed with caution.

The worst ever. If you like waiting to get in, waiting for no answers and waiting forever for test results, this is your place. This personifies everything wrong with health care today. The staff is overworked and the docs are uninvolved.

The person responsible for scheduling is really rude and has terrible PR skills. I would never try to get an appointment with this Dr. office

Dr. Schenk and his staff are the best. I am 66 years old and I have survived prostate cancer for the last 5 years. I had been to another doctor who barely listened to me and seemed indifferent to my diagnosis. Dr. Schenk was highly recommended by another well qualified surgeon I have know for years. He lived up to all promises made prior to surgery and will always be a friend and caretaker of me and my family.

Dr. Greg Schenk came into my life when I had advanced symptoms of bladder cancer. My Primary Care physician was perplexed. Dr. Schenk treated me with respect and with an excellent bedside manner. His surgical skills are beyond excellent. My family was treated in the same manner. He still (since 2011) has time to call and say hello and offers moral support when needed. I consider him a friend and have sent all of my friends to him for regular checks. Had it not been for Dr. Schenk, I would not be around to write this review.

Dr. Schenk is the best urologist. He saved my husband's life and his case was very difficult. We owe so much to him and love his personality. He really cares about his patients. We feel very lucky to have him as our doctor.
