Dr. Heidi Coryell Shors, MD

Just got done searching high and low for Dr Shors . Dr Shors use to work at Virginia Mason in Seattle I recently have real issue with my hand she is the only one I would trust to take care of it .Much to my surprise she is no longer here. She fixed my thumb a while back and it now works perfect. If you want a take charge doctor that gets results she is it. Going to be hard to find a doctor with the " I can fix that " attitude and does.

My husband accompanied me at my appointment today and was as equally impressed with Dr Shors . Wonderful bedside manner and very knowledgeable in her field. Also to our liking very conservative and thoughtful. Great follow up when she says she will call she does it and I mean right at that time she tells you. We are both very impressed by her follow up and she calls not the nurse.

While she is sometimes hard to get to, Dr. Shors is a fabulous doctor and is worth the wait. She explains things fully and accurately. She takes her time with you to make sure her work is done properly.I would recommend her and I will be going back (if I have a further need).

I made an appoinment with Dr. Shor's office for carpel tunnel evaluation. After a short wait, a nerve conductivity test, evaluation by the Doc and surgery scheduled for the next day. Most friendly, personable and professional staff I've ever dealt with in a medical environment. Surgery was a breeze!

You seem to think you know all. However, I don't care if you think you are such a great Dr, I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of you. You take a normal statement or word and turn into what you want it to mean. I could not be anymore disappointed in your so called bedside manner and I am so mad that I didn't get a dr with a heart and knows how to treat people, rather than turn your words against you and I leave the appt. it comes to mind that nothing was acompished and you are very good at doing that. I come back and my wife asks what happened, my answer, "you know I am not sure." So I hope that is what you are trying to do.

She is energetic and good with her craft, but a warning if you are wanting to see her first on the grounds of being an orthopedist, not as the orthopedic surgeon she surely is. And she is nice in her way, but when first going in for a consult where surgery is the furthest thing from your mind, she cannot seem to separate the surgeon from herself. In trying to just talk to her and find some options for your problem, if it is not definitively a surgical case, she tries to downplay your pain and problems onto other things that have no real bearing. Bottom line: if you are not presenting as an interesting, possibly surgical case, you're going to find some palpable discomfort with her approach. You know you are in pain, and trying to explain it to doctors can be especially hard when they are not the ones experiencing it. She has a habit of pushing people who are in real, suffering pain directly to physical therapy which may or may not help for months if you do not present as an option to… cut. And that is a bitter, hard pill for people in excruciating pain to swallow. She may have your best interests at heart by not trying to find a more immediate solution to help relieve some pain through the trauma associated with surgery. And in a lot of cases that is great, sparing someone unnecessary surgery that may make things worse or take longer to recover. But there is little middle ground with her, and while she is nice in her presentation, a person in severe discomfort cannot help but feel slighted by being told to take their partially torn shoulder and give PT a go for at least six to eight weeks. Doctor's, and she is certainly no exclusion, fail to properly understand the levels of discomfort a lot of people come to them in, simply looking for the smallest means to make things just a little more bearable. I didn't see that in her.Bottom line: I do not for one second doubt her abilities as an orthopedic surgeon, but her seeing patients for the first time as an orthopedist first sorely lacks. You hand her an MRI that says there is a partial tear along with other issues, and she proceeds to tell you that surgery, which you never even brought up, is not what she envisions. Then she starts to dissect any other aspects of your physical life, be it prior medical conditions that have no bearing on this, and try and lay the partial blame there. It hurts to have someone you are opening up to for help downplay your pain and discomfort in so many ways. PT is the bastion for many specialties, especially ortho, and it does have its place. Again, though, it's just a lot to ask of someone you've torn down to endure weeks if not months of possibly fruitless, costly PT without there being a middle ground. Go to her if you are absolutely in need of surgery, I would suggest examining the specialty for others when coming in with something less concrete, but nonetheless important.
