The doctor had a extremely high number of patients. The doctor seemed rushed. Seemed concerned about insurance coverage for treatment, but yet wanted to rush for surgery treatment? Also, after exam, treatment performed, brief explanation of appointment & findings doctor left exam room & about 10 minutes later reappeared asking me. "If everything is ok." My reply waiting for next appointment. He yelled to medical asst; she needs appointment. Like he was confused or rushed -?

I was very impressed with doctor degroot. He's very personable answered all my questions and concerns and took his time with me

Really like Dr. Degroot. He appears to a bit of a perfectionist. When it comes to my healrh that is five star in my book

I sought a second opinion from Dr. Degroot after amputation of my toe had been recommended by another physician. Dr. Degroot has proposed a surgical solution that will not only preserve my toe but enhance my condition. I am hopeful.

You might say, well itâ??s only the heel bone and how bad could that be. As I learned this little bone unlike many in our body that purely provide a structural role also facilitates healthy body balance and mobility. From doing some web research you learn the surgical treatment and recovery outcome even for a less severe fracture case can widely vary based on treatment technique and experience of the orthopedic surgeon selected. Given the number and type fractures of my case the research did not paint an optimistic recovery outcome. The general long term prognoses suggested living with reduced physical mobility and ongoing fluctuating pain. After obtaining several Physician opinions we selected Dr. Henry Degroot, Newton/Wellesley Hospital. I shared my concerns and questions hoping for the best. He was very good at explaining everything in layman's terms describing the injury, the surgical steps to repair it and the recovery time needed to yield a good outcome. Compared to… the traditional approach involving a larger L shaped incision to install a metal plate with dozens of screws, Dr. Degroot performed a less invasive procedure, smaller incision involving only 2 pins that eventually are removed and 2 screws that would remain. He stressed a realistic recovery time of a year to return to as close to normal health and activities. It has been 6 months from the accident and Iâ??m pleased to say that Iâ??m walking and doing most of my normal daily activities again. While not yet fully pain or stiffness free the progress to date has been remarkable. In short, I would highly recommend Dr. Degroot. He is a very knowledgeable, experienced and thoughtful orthopedic surgeon who you can trust and feel confident that he will help heal you.

No doubt competent, but full of himself. Unless you need surgery, he's not interested in treating you.
