Dr. Henry Kin-Sun Lui, MD

I saw Dr Lui several yrs ago when he was w/ another group. I'd had the nuclear study etc & went back wks later for results for him to tell me I had a blockage in left ventricle & needed to be at the hospital early the next morning for a heart cath but to 1st stop by the pharm & fill a script of nitroglycerin incase I needed it before morning! I had the cath ( I'm awake just given calming med) Dr Lui walks in Cath Lab. Does not say hello, not a single word to me! He does the cath, turns around throws his green jacket on the floor & walks out! I looked at the nurse & said what?? She said she wasn't allowed to tell me anything. I was sent back to my room little later. I didn't know if I was going for surgery or what! I heard NOTHING from Dr Lui or his office that day & had to wait until the next morning till not him but his associate nurse practioner came & told me I did not have a blockage .... It was a false positive test. Well that was good news BUT I did not appreciate dr… Lui acting like he was mad over it! He made the call. He is rude. I wouldn't trust his diagnosis. I wouldn't take my dog to him. I 'm only writing this cause its a review & people are in titled to know. Or if someone ask what I know about him. If I hear someone is going to him I just cringe...

This doctor was referred to us by another doctor. He , first, put my elderly mother on 2 blood thinners. After weeks of being weak and skin tearing when she washed it, she had scheduled to see the other doctor. He was shocked to see her condition and asked why I'm the world was she on 2 strong blood thinners we made another appt with Lui. We didn't see him hit saw his partner. His woman looked like she was ready to go to the club instead of see patience.(purple nails 4 inches long) she did take my mother off one of the blood thinners. The next visit Lui says my mother failed her stress test and the the heart stint he put in must not be working he did another cath and found nothing. During her stay he left the hospital leaving no instructions or number to call him for the nurses. She needed something to relax her but the nurses couldn't because he left no order to do so. My mother was extremely agitated and uncomfortable and the nurse tried to call Lui with no avail. He called back… several hours later after my 84 year old mother laid there with severe anxiety. On the follow up visit, he blamed everyone else and even the Hospital . We still don't know why she failed her stress test.y family and I weren't impressed. Not to mention the Apex building is always dirty and dusty.

I asked for Dr. Lui because I had heard so many good things about him. He did tests, and sent us immediately to a cardiac surgeon. (That part was good.)But he did not communicate with the surgeon; my family member had 95% blockage, but he just ordered us to go home until the surgery, 3 months later!) Then, when we went in for a follow-up appointment 6 weeks after the surgery, he was bewildered and did not remember ordering the surgery. (I believe that he had been home in the meantime.) So we tried to catch him up to speed, but he never ordered rehab services (my family member had excellent insurance at the time), which might have made a difference. He passed away 3 years later, because he had never fully regained his former strength on his own. By the way, we got a bill for. An office visit, that was during the time the patient was in the hospital, so even their records were a mess on this patient. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, that something else must have preoccupying his… life at the time. But I probably would not take another chance with him. I do believe that he should have come to check-in on his patient at the hospital, and if out-of-the-country, arranged for someone to take his place. It left us basically w/o a primary care physician. WTH has corrected this, because you are assigned a physician to oversee your care when you check in now. (The one good thing is that he did send us immediately to a cardiac surgeon. But even the surgeon did not understand why Dr. Lui was not checking in on us.)

This man is rude, arrogant, and inconsiderate.

Although my mom was very scared about having a "new" heart problem and having been through this with an older MD previously, her visit was absolutely a very very good experience. Thank you Dr. Lui

My experience with Dr. Lui began when he stopped my heart attack. I had previously experienced the care of another fine cardiologist, but after hearing the praise of other medical professionals regarding Dr. Lui, I decided I wanted him handling my care. He is actively involved in current research to better serve his patients. While he may not seem at first to have a great bedside manner, he is more than willing to answer questions posed to him, and the answers he gives are thorough and understandable.
