Dr. Jack Calhoun Scott Long, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Long for 4 years, now. Before seeing him, I was getting UTI's every month or two. At one point I wasn't prescribed the right antibiotics and wound up in the hospital for 3 days with a kidney infection. That was when I was referred to Dr. Long. Thanks to him, I now rarely get UTI's and when I do, I get the proper treatment. I am so grateful to him. He's very considerate & knowledgeable.

Dr. Long appears to care about his patients however is office staff - especially in Georgetown are terrible to work with. Dr. Long will tell you that things will be a certain way but then the staff doesn't seem to know what is going on and does not take responsibility for resolving issues...a common comment is: "Well I don't know about that". Was told when I asked about having a test result and what the care would be that a call from them would be a "courtesy call" and that they were too busy for that. Several times we were told information but then the information was proven to be a lie. It is VERY difficult to get an straight answer from this office.

O.K. here goes. First of all it is next to impossible to reach this physician's office. When you call his office, you get either an "answering service" or a "recording" with various menu options. One of which is "leave a message." It is implied that an office staff member will return your call within two hours. This is in fact a "barefaced" lie. You call will not be returned within two or even the same day. Another choice is to call 911 if it is an emergency. I will add, that by the time someone does call you back, you should have called 911. As a follow-up, this physician apparently did not look at my pre-examination form on which I had listed my "drug" allergies. As a result, he prescribed a medication that would have caused Anaphylactic Shock. Thankfully, the pharmacist at CVS caught this error before the prescription was filled.

This doctor knows his stuff. Has wonderful style of helping patient feel at ease during exam. Has good sense of humor when senses anxiety in patient. Thank you!
