Dr. Jed T Poll, MD

I went to Dr Poll for a chalazion/stye removal due to having issues for months. Dr Poll asked me "have you tried anything or just wishing them away". I tried the standard recommendation of a warm compress 2 times daily. However, I obtained another stye and lost my eyelashes. Dr Poll belittled me throughout my appointment and was condescending. I went to him as a referral from my PCP. Dr Poll put down my insurance company for not knowing how to code properly, my primary care provider for making the referral, and disliked another ophthalmologist whom I saw for PRK surgery a few years ago. In summary, DO NOT entrust your health with Dr Poll.

Dr Poll is friendly and easy to talk to. He answers all questions competently and thoroughly. He has always served me well and provided me all that I required.

I went to Dr. Poll for a blocked tear duct. I had a morning appointment. I waited in the waiting room for about 15 minutes. I then was put in a room and waited over 30 minutes. For the last 15 minutes of my wait I sat and listened to the Dr. and his staff chat about the latest movie they went to. I know that sometimes Doctors fall behind because of patients needing extra time but I think it is very rude on the part of the Doctor to make patients wait while they chat with their staff. When Dr. Poll finally decided to "get to work" (his exact words) I told him I thought I had a blocked tear duct. He told me he was going to quick check and make sure that was the problem. I waited again and then he came in and squirted some water in my tear duct. The entire procedure took maybe 90 seconds. He told me to schedule a surgery at the desk and left. From the time I left the office until now my eye blows air out of it when I sneeze or blow my nose. He never advised me that this may… be a problem, although it isn't painful it is very bothersome. A few weeks later I received a bill from Dr. Poll for $720.00! I realize that medical services are expensive but I feel as though the charge was excessive especially since Dr. Poll made no comments about the procedure he was doing was so expensive. I have called several times trying to reach Dr. Poll. He will not return the calls I finally went through billing and had them contact Him still no response. This is the first bad review I have ever left about a Doctor but I feel as though future patients should be warned.

I just had some eye surgery a week ago & I couldn't disagree more with some of the negative reviews. Everyone was as friendly & helpful as they have been for the couple of years I've been going here. Dr Poll did an EXCELLENT job on my upper eyelids! I had NO pain, minimal swelling & he answered every question I had throughout the whole process. I couldn't be happier with the results & will recommend him to anyone who needs eye surgery. And by the way, the staff DOES joke around & laugh. Quite a bit actually. But this tells me that they are happy & actually LIKE their job! Give me a happy staff ANYDAY!!! Thank you Dr Poll & staff for a job well done! AAAAA+++++

I took my five year old son in for a routine eye examine. I checked with the office and my insurance company several times and was assured our appointment was covered at 100%. My insurance company asked me to remind them to bill it as a routine eye exam, which I did upon arriving at the office. The nice ladies at the front desk assured me that that wouldn't be a problem. We waited probably 15 minutes before we were called back. Then one of the assistants quickly looked at my sons eyes through a machine. (about 2 minutes) We were then brought back into a different room where he could be asked what letters were on the wall (another 2 minutes). We then waited for a very long time for the doctor to come in. He spent probably another 5 minutes with us. Before I left I talked to the kind ladies at the front desk and told them about the appointment and my son's diagnosis, and once again reminded them that I wanted it billed as a routine eye appointment. They again assured me that it wasn't a… problem. Two weeks later I got a bill in the mail from my insurance stating that I owed the full amount. I called SelectHealth and asked them what happened. Apparently Dr. Poll's office had not billed it as a routine eye appointment. But the lady who I spoke to told me that it wasn't a problem, she said to just call the office and have them re-bill the appointment as a routine eye exam and to put the diagnosis secondary. She said they would know the code and it would be an easy fix. So I called Dr. Poll's office and explained to them what SelectHealth had told me. After several phone calls they refused and were unwilling to re-bill. I am now stuck with a $200 bill for 5 minutes with Dr. Poll. I worked in a medical office and was a billing specialist for several years. This problem could be fixed in a matter of seconds, and the insurance suggested it and would approve it. I would not recommend Dr. Poll to anyone!!! They lied to me and are unwilling to bill as they said they would.

I am following up from my previous post. Well, my glasses prescription ended up being the wrong one for my eyes. The Representative at the Eyeglass store told me I should be able to go back and get a new prescription. After paying "another" copay for the visit, I was just handed another prescription after a brief eye test, he gave me a new prescription. On my first visit, after seeing all of the advertisements for Botox. I asked him about it and he said he can do it. I was a bit afraid since I've never had it before. His assistant came in with the needle and said it was the ending of the bottle so it may not be as strong...I should have opted out right there and then but felt intimidated. After 2 weeks, I there were no results. I called him and he said I could come into the office (another copay) He said botox isn't immediate and I would need Juvaderm if I wanted immediate results. I told him I didn't need immediate results. After practically begging him for a touch up (which I was… told would be free on the phone) He said he would do a bit more. After 2 months with no results, I went to my regular Plastic Surgeon, he told me that the other Doctor actually put the injection into the wrong area. He said that would actually cause the wrinkle between my forehead look deeper. Well, my results from my Doctor were noticeable in about a week! He was only able to put a small amount in since I had already done 2 months ago. This Doctor is very nonchalant about everything and dishonest with his procedure recommendations. It has been bothering me so much, I finally decided to get my frustration out so others won't get any time of Botox or other wrinkle type treatments. What a waste of $300!

I've seen Dr. Poll several times and have always had a good experience. The office staff is very friendly, his PA's aren't as friendly (but maybe she is new and was concentrating?), Dr. Poll has a great sense of humor and is always very thorough. I've recommended him to several friends and family members.

Can you give negative stars? Listened to the staff laughing and joking for 30 minutes while I waited in the exam room. Dr. Poll came in the exam room and asked what the problem was. I explained my eye symptoms. His response was "I have no idea." He then left the room. I waited 10-15 minutes. No one followed up or came in to say I should check out or refer me to a specialist or anything. I finally left. I would never return or recommend him.

I researched Dr. Poll and it seemed that his credentials were excellent. I needed an eye exam so I decided to go to him. He came in and it was a quick exam. I left feeling pretty confident about his diagnosis. Age was causing eyesight to need glasses. He was actually helpful by telling me I didn't really need reading bifocals so that was a relief. I had been considering getting Botox and saw many advertisements in the waiting room. I decided to ask the PA about it and she said he had done it for her and it worked great...so I felt at ease with his expertise since he does surgery and "plastic" surgery on eyes. Botox can cause problems with droopy eyes as a side effect. Well, needless to say it has been over a month and there is still no difference in the line between my eyes. I spent almost $300 to get it done and got no results. I called the office and left a message with the Receptionist, so I will keep you updated on what happens. I'm VERY disappointed...
