Dr. John David Lasater, MD

My father is dead, thanks to this doctor. He had been under the care of Dr. Lasater for many years for an enlarged prostate. When my Dad was 83 years old, he was the picture of health. During a routine exam, Dr. Lasater felt a nodule. He did not care enough about my father, his patient for YEARS, to insist on a biopsy...a simple in-office procedure that would have confirmed the nodule was an AGGRESSIVE FORM OF PROSTATE CANCER! Instead, Dr. Lasater insured my elderly parents that even if it was prostate cancer, my father would never die from it. A year later, still under the care of this doctor, my Dad began having double vision in one eye. His ophthalmologist quickly diagnosed a tumor was pressing on his retina. THE TUMOR WAS FROM PROSTATE CANCER! It had spread throughout Dad’s body, right under the nose of Dr. Lasater. When the office was informed my Dad would not be returning, Dr. Lasater actually wrote my parents a letter stating he would not change a thing and would have done the… same for his own father. My Dad found wonderful doctors who treated the cancer for almost two years, but succumbed to it earlier this year. PLEASE, if you have a loved one under the care of this doctor, question everything he does. Your loved one's life may be at risk. I miss my father very much. He would be alive today if his aggressive prostate cancer had been diagnosed early.

Worse doctor ever! He Should be fired!!!!

Very pleased with the care and follow up of Dr. Lasater and his staff. My husband had an urgent urological concern that resulted after a hospital stay for another medical issue and Dr. Lasater and his staff immediately responded to my husband's situation. Dr. Lasater was not available but his staff contacted him by phone and he made sure my husband was taken care of promptly and then followed up the next day to alleviate our concerns. Thank you Dr. Lasater and staff!

My husband had to have a biopsy done which was completed by Dr. Lasater. Unfortunately,the test results were not what we expected. We were told by the Dr.we would get a call in two days to discuss further options/treatment. The days went by and no call. I made the call and was told to give it two days for a return call. I informed her that it had already been two days and still no call. She could care less about that. Informed me again to wait two days for a call back. Needless to say and sad to say, a call was never received. Can you imagine being told you have cancer, but you are unable to get the help you were told!!! UNBELIEVABLE! We decided to take matters into our own hands. So blessed to say, my husband is doing very well. No thanks to Urology of Virginia. Very bad service and business!!

Dr. John Lasater was very vague, dismissive, and impatient when answering questions in regards to the procedure that was performed by him and what the results were. He was very rushed in answering questions when probed and claimed to have given information previously which was not given to the patient or the family member. I was very dissatisfied with his bedside manner.

One of the best Doctors I have seen.

Dr. Lassiter has been very kind and considerate of my health. I appreciate how thorough he has been.

Dr. Lasater has been great. His nurse Debbie however is another matter. She's curt and I found her on my many visits or attempt to get information as unprofessional. lets all calls go to voicemail and does not follow up even as Dr. Lasater asked me to contact her. I actually went to the officer and stood where I can see her, called on my cell phone and watch her as the call went to voicemail. She appeared at the time to not be busy. Enough said.

I met with this doctor when I was 7 months pregnant due to serve hydronephrosis. He was very quick to dismiss my symptoms and was not willing to accept the level of pain I was experiencing. Against what he thought was his better judgment, he scheduled me to have a stent placed in my R ureter. He set up the appointment at his affiliated hospital. I arrived at the hospital and after two hours was informed that my procedure could not be done there because they do not have an OB department. Dr. Lasater did not apologize for this oversight and was not helpful in getting the procedure rescheduled. Once the procedure was rescheduled, it was with another doctor. It turns out that my ureter was completely coiled and the stent was necessary. I would not recommend this doctor. He had little to no respect for me as a patient or as a pregnant woman. Nor was he willing to listen to my concerns.
