Dr. John George Giannakis, MD

I waited a long time to see Dr. Giannakis - I realize that is sometimes necessary. However, my visit was very rushed and he didn't listen to me. His staff did not follow through and he sent a prescription I told him I could not take. I cannot recommend that kind of care.

I rely on Dr. Giannakis for all things related to prostate health. He is always very nice, knowledgeable, focused, and efficient. I would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or relative.

Absolutely don't see Dr. Giannakis! He did routine surgery on my father who ended up in the ICU for a month and was critically unstable for 2 1/2 weeks with all of this organs failing. He ended up on dialysis. Then, during Christmas weekend, neither Dr. Giannakis nor any other doctor from Northwoods Urology came to check on him in the ICU. My father had to go to rehab to learn to walk again. Only through prayer and a miracle did my father survive. My father needed 3 additional surgeries to repair the damage that was done.

My husband had his first and last appointment with this doctor. He was rude, condescending in such a rush he basically told him he’d just have to “live” with the condition we were consulting him for. Turns out the condition we went to consult him on has progressed to the point that the second opinion we sought said it may be irreversible. Thanks for making us feel like we were wasting your time and not only missing the diagnosis, but by telling him to “live with it” delaying an actual dignosis by a doctor who gives a crap about his patients.

Dr. Giannakis is the best urologist I've known by far! He is also a great guy to know. As far as the waiting goes, some people love to complain about the time they wait to see the best Doctor in town. When you get to wait for the best, sit down, shut up and wait is my opinion. He will get to you as soon as he can. I'm just grateful that I get to have him as my urologist and as a medical friend.

Dr. Giannakis wrote me a prescription that was incomplete. It did not contain dosage frequency so the Pharmacy cannot fill it. After ONE WEEK their offices has not been able to to call the Pharmacy and straighten this very simple problem out. I have never heard of this sort of problem before and am dumbfounded at the lack of professionalism by him and his staff.

Never have I had such trouble with a physician's staff as I have with this one. They duck phone calls, mislead insurance carriers, and refuse to give medical records when legally requested. Most frustrating experience I've ever had with a doctor and his staff.

My first visit was good however the day before my second visit I received a call about the fact that I was to have a "procedure" on the 2nd vist, news to me. Thought we were going to discuss the results of the sample drugs given to me. Had to pay before even seeing the Doc, then waited 45mins in waiting room after I explained to nurse I didn't feel I needed the procedure. Saw the Doc, indicated he would send in a script to the Compounding RX, checked with them the next day- no script! Guess he forgot. Wonder when that will be done?
