Dr. John Daniel Ortega, MD

Dr. Ortega was two hours late, and his bedside manner was abysmal. He did not apologize for being late, and he was dismissive and inattentive. I saw him to address significant nasal breathing difficulty and he didn't even do a proper exam (as is protocol). To examine my nasal passages (ENTs are supposed to use an endoscope which they have on hand at the office!), he looked up my nostrils with his NAKED EYE and concluded that nothing was wrong/the only thing he could see was a 'slight' septal deviation. He could not have been more wrong (I saw a different ENT months later because I didn't trust Dr. Ortega's judgment, and, after undergoing a nasal endoscopy, found out that not only was my septum severely deviated, but I had other diagnosable nasal issues and required surgery). He's grossly negligent and I would not recommend him to anyone. Absolutely appalling.

This man schedules a patient every 10 minutes, and it is reflected in the care he provides. He was over an hour late, and didn't listen to what I had to say. He kept referring to my "bilateral" tinnitus even though I reiterated several times that only my left ear was affected. He cleaned my ears and then proclaimed to have cured my "bilateral" tinnitus even though I told him the left ear tinnitus had resolved several days prior to my visit. The icing on the cake was when he posted all of this inaccurate information into my chart notes. When I messaged him to indicate this error, he never responded to me. I also felt sorry for his harried staff. They were very kind and he is lucky to have such patient people working for him.

Terrible office service. i had an appt at 8:20 am, was in the office waiting for the Dr by 8:17 but than waiting till 8:58 and nobody ever came in the office to acknowledge that i was till there waiting or as a courtesy to notify me if dr was even running late. i had to walk out. The front desk staff did not even seem to care! Will not be coming back to reschedule with this office. my father used to say "if someone does not provide you with good service, you DO NOT give them your business and move on, there are other doctors"!

He forgets that the ear has a real person attached to it!

I didn’t like his approach to meds. My current ones weren’t really looked at, and the fact that I was prescribed something relatively strong concerns me. I don’t find that the office responds to messages efficiently, especially when a patient may be ill. I don’t recommend.

I took my 62 year old brother, who is autistic, to see Dr. Ortega for a mandibular benign tumor. This Dr. was kind to us, knowledgeable and very caring. This type of surgery to remove requires skill and engineenuity. If the surgeon is not careful, they could cut into a nerve which could cause permanent damage (ie., facial drooping, problems chewing etc.) but this Dr. was top flight in handling this surgery. Everything went well and I'm so very happy. GREAT PHYSICIAN!!! He also is great at keeping his patients very informed. I wish there were more likely him.

My mom needed an ENT specialist to take care of her thyroid growth. We took an appointment with him but he just cancelled the appointment saying he doesn't treat this condition. I assume he was avoiding risks(My mom is old and had heart issues). Never experienced a doctor just rejecting you like this before!

John's photo here is from his undergraduate days so don't be fooled. Also he is dismissive about a lot when it comes to sinus surgery especially if you have ANY other conditions that might interfere with a procedure. He refused to speak to my other specialist doctor when he asked me to stop taking the medicine from the other doctor suspecting that was causing my sinus problems. Additionally, he w ould not perform surgery on my sinuses b/c I 'had asthma' which other doctors seem to think that would not be impacted at all. He prescribed pill / anitbiotics/ singular which was temporary relief. But like many doctors today refused to address the root of the problem. I would not recommend Dr. Ortega especially for your children or those that cannot fully advocate for themselves.

Spent less than 5 minutes with me and diagnosed my condition as post nasal drip. In fact I have acute tonsillitis caused by a viral infection that is now having to be treated rather aggressively with strong antibiotics and steroids. One of the worse cases my new doctor has ever seen. Ortega used almost none of his medical training to treat me, which between the useless meds fees for the visit has cost me $200. Would have been over $600 without insurance paying for a lot. He is, in my opinion, not at all good at his job- which has almost as much to do with me feeling as though I am being cared for as it does providing as accurate a diagnosis as possible by taking the appropriate amount of time to do so. So very displeased.

I loved this doctor and his staff. I have never had a doctor and staff take care of me this way. they were always available if I had questions. I was always able to make an appointment with ease. Never had to wait long.
