I had a critically narrowed renal artery, but was not expecting surgery any time soon. However, recent bloodwork showed the need for an immediate stent. I had never met Dr. Wuamett until a week before the scheduled surgery. I remember thinking how young he appeared to be and how calm he was. He explained the procedure extremely well, both in his office the week prior to surgery and at the hospital the day of the actual surgery. Again, he was calm--and punctual. The surgery went better than I expected, and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Those around him appeared to be equally calm and caring.

My aorta ruptured last year and Dr. Wuamett saved my life. I will not forget how calm and comforting he was as we went back to the OR. A very humble and down to earth surgeon. I look forward to my visits with him and am thankful he was on call that weekend.

I had a bypass in my leg many years ago and recently I started getting real bad foot pain. Unfortunately it got even worse when my wife and I were in Annapolis visiting my grandson at the USNA. One night it got to the point my foot was feeling cold and numb. I went to the ER and the ER doctor knew right away my leg was in trouble. It was real late at night but Dr. Wuamett must have been there in no time because he was waiting in my room when I got back from the CT scan. I swear he looked about as young as my grandson but he seemed very on top of things and put me and my wife at ease. We looked at the scan together and he told me exactly what he had to do to fix it. We went to the operating room and he unclogged my bypass and then put a patch on the artery it's plugged into. They could even feel my pulse after the surgery. I've seen a lot of doctors before this happened but I'll tell you none of them were as prompt and thorough as him. He even called me when I returned to Charlotte to… check on me.
