Dr. Kevin Spafford Sumsion, MD

I would most definitely recommend Dr Sumsion. He is very kind and caring and he is the only OBGYN I'd go to and have been going to him for 30 years. He is someone I definitely call my friend.

He has good bedside manners but even as I am his first patient for the day, I’m still waiting an hour to see him. His time management is terrible. You will be waiting hours to just see him for your scheduled appointment. He is very kind but not reliable on time.

If I could give a 0 star review I would. Dr Sumsioin is the worst doctor I have ever seen I would recommend to avoid him at all costs. He is very degrading, dismissive and rude.

I started seeing dr sumsion when we started our infertility treatments. We have had a few bad doctors over the past little while and this was such a big deal I didn’t want to go to just anyone. We met with him and he was so extremely helpful and compassionate to our struggle. He started tests right away. (we were trying for a little over a year at that time) After all he could do for us he referred us to an infertility specialist because there was nothing more he could do. During the times though I had struggled with endometriosis and had done a couple surgeries with him. He was always so helpful in each of these cases. On regular check ups he was always professional and had good bedside manor. Fast forward 6 years we finally got pregnant and went to him through my whole pregnancy. Every appointment was great. He always took his time in our appointments to explain things and answer any questions. Even when he was running behind. He always addressed my concerns and if I was worried… about something he would take extra measures to make sure Things were okay with me and my babes. When it came time delivery he was very helpful and very encouraging and delivered my baby safely. I hands down recommend him for your obgyn. If I had to pick something bad the only thing I can think of was that his office was running late on occasion. But the guys delivering babies. Come on. And his office always let us know.

Seriously, how is this guy even practicing?! I have lived in bed alternating ice packs and warm rags and tears. My kids don’t understand why I can’t get up and do things with them. It hurts too bad to even walk. I understand strong pain pills have a time and a place, but if I don’t fall into that category then Idk who does? He literally saw it for himself and I basically got an “Oh well. Sucks for you!” Like I said, I do not take pain pills unless absolutely necessary and I guarantee some strong pain relief is necessary and I only asked for a few days worth. He made me feel like some kind of drug seeking freak, which was totally embarrassing. He wouldn’t even give me a topical numbing cream to ease things up. What?! He couldn’t survive 5 minutes of what I’ve dealt with for over two weeks. Despicable excuse for the title of “doctor.” I’ll be adding my review to any and all sites I can find to do so. How about treating someone like an actual human being, value their time, and do your… freaking job!

I had originally started going to him when I was 16 and my mom scheduled the appointment. Couple years down the road when I was 18/19ish and came in to get my birth control refilled. I had gone about 6 times (since it was just easiest at the time. Because I was already set up with him) each time I would go I would wait for at least 45 minutes. One day it took over 2.5 hours! I was in the little napkin they give you and yelled for a nurse. Since I felt like I was forgotten. A few times this happened he was delivering a baby. Which is great for him, but at least tell me. I was so uncomfortable and cold! Whenever I met with him. I got the sex talk. Not about being careful with parteners. Since I have only had one my boyfriend since I was in jr high and he's now my husband. But he would always give the the abstinence lecture. For a while, not just a couple comments. I always felt like he was judging me. It's great if that's your beliefs, but you're a doctor. Please leave your views or… religion out of it. Thanks!

It must depend on his mood. He is either nice and takes time to listen, or in a rush. There were times he was in and out of my room in less than 2 minutes and my questions weren't answered. He will also try to push a c-section on anyone for no reason. I guess C-sections are easier to schedule and they pay more. I think I will probably look elsewhere for my next baby.

Dr. Sumsion is very capable and knowledgable, as well as being very caring and compassionate. Would definitely recommend him.

There is no finer OBGYN than Dr. Sumsion. He is a kind and caring man that is sensitive to your needs. He always checks up on you after your visits/surgeries with a genuine concern. I have never known a doctor to be so talented at his job, and so generous towards his staff and patients. He is a magnificent man that I am so happy to call "friend".
