Dr. Kristina Lyn Depaolo Carlin, DO

Did not have a good experience with Dr Carlin . Took my nonverbal autistic daughter in to see her to be checked for a UTI and she was showing signs of pain when urinating . I told the Dr about everything and expressed my concern to which she didn’t listen to anything I had to say then said “her skin is probably irritated from peeing in her pull up “ . I explained she is changed often and is also half potty trained so she does use the toilet ( her skin isn’t even red / irritated and there is no rash . I felt unheard and brushed off . Her bedside manner isn’t the greatest, I felt judged and honestly I feel bad for my daughter because if she does have something going on it was just brushed off so now I will be taking her to another doctor because I am my daughters biggest advocate!

I was very disappointed with my visit with Dr. Kristina Depaolo Carlin. Within minutes of meeting my 18-month-old, she labeled her as “severely delayed” and said she should already be close to potty trained and counting to 10. These are not developmentally appropriate expectations for a toddler, and I left feeling more judged than supported. She also discouraged our use of sign language and reacted negatively when I mentioned Ms. Rachel, which surprised me since both are helpful tools for many families. I had hoped to find a supportive pediatrician, but unfortunately this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and I will be seeking care elsewhere.
