Dr. Latif Mohamm Hamed, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Hamed for several years and had both cataract surgery and lower eyelid fat removal performed. After my eyelid procedure, I experienced ongoing healing issues and a noticeable decline in my vision that had not been present beforehand. When I reported that my vision was clear in the morning but became blurry as the day went on, I was told this was a symptom of dry macular degeneration. In my own research, and in later discussions with another eye specialist, I was unable to find support for that explanation. I also found communication during follow-up visits to be inconsistent and at times dismissive of my concerns. When I asked for clarification about my symptoms, I often left without clear answers.

Dr. Hamed is extremely smart and very conservative when making decisions regarding what the best steps to take in order to improve your eyesight. He is so kind, very caring and takes the time to answer any questions you might have. His office staff are wonderful. They are so pleasant and helpful. When it comes to your eyes you want the best ! The best is Dr. Hamed!

Dr Hamed is the best eye surgeon in Ocala by far. He is both highly trained and is a tenured professor himself. His office reveals his numerous national awards and the outcome of my cataract surgery speaks volumes to his skill and attention to every detail.

I would not recommend this Doctor to anyone despite the rave reviews he gets in Ocala. It's bogus! Initially I went to this eye doctor five years ago because I was interested in lasik surgery. Dr Latiff told me not to have it until new technology comes out making it possible for those over 55 to be able to read well too. So I ended up getting a new prescription for no line or progressive lenses for two pairs of glasses (one was sunglasses). They forgot to adjust the reading part of the bottom before placing the order. It took a month to get my new glasses and another month to correct them and reorder. They repeated the same mistake on my second pair of sunglasses. There was no apology other than they wanted me to pay more money because on the rimless framed ones there was an additional cost for sotter the lenses onto the inside frame. After telling them I was still having trouble reading with them they told me I was not a good candidate for no line lenses. I told them I had… been wearing progressive lenses with no problem for years from Lens Crafter. I did research and found that Lens Crafter knew which progressive lenses were the correct fit for my eyes. I wish I had never left Lens Crafter. After much back and forth with the manager of Dr. Latiff's office manager - who was a bully about wanting me to pay a $100 surcharge - I finally did get a check in the mail back for the second pair of glasses. This doctor is a NO NO!

I have been a patient of Dr. Latif Hamed for over 30 years. My late husband, Dr. M. C. Fernandez was also a patient of his. His brother, Michael also is a doctor. You could not find better doctors. I knew Dr. Hamed when he was at Shands. When he first started in Ocala, we sent many patients to him. Dr. Hamed is my doctor and my friend. Michael is a very sweet man. He is very smart and brings a lot to the practice. Ocala and surrounding areas are lucky to have both Latif and Michael. My family all go to Dr. Hamed and are very happy. I am grateful to all of the people who make the office run so well.

I truly realize how much I miss Dr. Hamed after moving from Ocala to a nearby city 6 hours away after my husband passed. I haven't found an ophthalmologist here that's anywhere close to him. If it wasn't such a long drive I'd still be his patient. That man is my hero!

Dr. Hamed is the finest eye surgeon I have worked with over the 40 years I have had eye problems. He is kind, listens well and I recommend him to anyone and everyone with any kind of eye problem. Maria Darvell
