Dr. Luis Ricardo Urbina, MD

I had the unfortunate experience of having this dr perform a bronchoscopy and biopsy on me. He was the rudest, most unfeeling, and most inappropriate dr I have ever encountered. Without going into details, let me say I would give him the lowest rating of any dr I've had to deal with, for myself, or anyone else. I was an RN for 41 years, so that speaks volumes about the treatment I received. I would recommend that anyone needing any sort of Pulmonary Care go to Vanderbilt, since the care at CRMC is definitely substandard. There is a callous disregard, and a complete lack of empathy for patient and family concerns. It is astounding that CRMC continues to ignore the terrible reputation they have in the area over the last 5 years. I don't expect that they will even speak to this physician about his conduct, but I will never forget how he treated me and my family members.

Would give this Dr a negative 10 stars! Very uncaring and does not listen to patient or their symptoms only what he thinks. Would not recommend him or this practice to anyone. His nurse also does not return urgent phone calls.

Horrible does not care how much pain your in totally ignores cries and pleas for help. They don't care how much you suffer

Dr. Urbina wasted a month of my time with incorrect diagnoses -- meanwhile my lung cancer was growing. He did a bronchoscopy which returned a false negative ("no cancer shown") when in reality I had a large lung tumor. Weeks went by while he suggested I wait 3 weeks to have a 2nd x-ray. This didn't seem right to me, so I insisted on a new xray after 1 week, and sure enough, it showed a tumor. When he finally gave me the news that I definitely had a sizable tumor in my lung, it was in a very cold and uncaring way. I felt no empathy from him whatsoever. At that point, he finally ordered a PET scan (a month after he should have done so ) and then, incredibly he didn't even bother to review the PET scan results. Instead, he scheduled a follow-up appointment for a MONTH later. A month, when I have lung cancer? At this point I abandoned Dr. Urbina and contacted CTCA (Cancer Treatment Centers of America) in Atlanta, where I was found to have stage 3B lung cancer. If I had followed… Urbina's advice even more time would have been wasted, and I would have probably progressed to stage 4 by the time I got treatment. By the way, I also found his bedside manner horrible: Very cold & uncaring, and his nurse, Sara, was also cold, abrupt, and in one instance, downright rude.

Very thorough. Explains everything so you can understand. Does not rush.

Dr was very rude, rushed me out before i could finish. then heard him go outside the door to the phone to complain about someone had to go to another Dr. to get my problem fixe. would not recomend this Dr.,

He would not provide me with a one-paragraph report that I needed. As if I didn't pay him enough...
