Dr. Maha Munir Dawood, MD

Dr. Dawood was very rude and unprofessional throughout our experience. I would not recommend her to anyone. We missed our first appointment because my mother was hospitalized due to a serious illness. When our rescheduled appointment came around, we were in the process of switching insurance after my mother lost her employer-sponsored coverage because she was too sick to work. We explained the situation, but instead of showing any understanding or compassion, our appointment was canceled, and we were told that Dr. Dawood would no longer see my mother as a patient. Medical situations and insurance changes can happen unexpectedly, especially when someone is seriously ill. We were disappointed by the lack of empathy and flexibility during such a difficult time. I believe healthcare providers should treat patients with professionalism, compassion, and understanding, especially when they are facing a medical crisis.

Ten years ago she diagnosed my lupus. My first visit, I was in so much pain I was crying. She told me that we would get rid of the pain and find out what was wrong. After many tested , I was diagnosed with lupus. She was so kind hearted. I had a flare up three years later and she was ready to see me any time. I had been hurting in my ribs two weeks ago, I didn’t go to the dr because I thought it may be pulled muscle. this past Tuesday, I received a phone call reminding of my regular appointment on Wednesday. I told her then that I was hurting and where. Of course, she ordered blood tests. Friday morning, her nurse called me to tell me bloodwork wasn’t good and that I needed to go to ER. I was in Atlanta and I was told to go there. After more test, Emory ER told me I had fluid on my lungs. I came home and today Dr. Dawood called me herself, told me what to take and she would call me tomorrow(Sunday) to check with me and to be at her office Monday morning. This is the type of doctor… she is to me. In these ten years she has been good to me, but I go in being friendly to everyone and they have always been good to me. I am glad she is here.

My father was seeing her for a while in 2017, and died Feb 2019. He was in constant pain after she changed his medication and showed signs of being allergic to the medication braking out in what I can only describe as hives. My father was a darker tan skinned man and she called him dirty during an appointment and because it was so hot neither him or I felt like arguing with her any more. When asked to repeat herself when explaining his tests she refused, her accent was thick and was difficult to make out and he and I both had difficulties hearing in general to begin with. I would never recommend her practice.

I was having severe side effects from the allopurinol. She refused to order a kidney function test, liver function test and urinalysis. Claiming that it was maple syrup disease without doing any kind of testing at all. Then she screamed that she wasn't qualified to treat me any longer and she wanted to send me to Emery hospital. I said that it was listed as severe side effects in the FDA website. She panicked and started screaming check out time repeatedly about 8-9 times. The receptionist said that no follow up with the doctor is needed and refused to give me a future appointment. The law states that a doctor can't abandon a patient and they are required to care for you for 30-90 days and help you find another doctor. She is like Dr. Jekyll and Hyde. She is nice sometime but I think she is addicted to gaming on her phone and computer. She seems to be bipolar or maniac depressive. She gives handouts that look like they came from a nursing home that had to correct or fix a damaged… handout. She doesn't seem to be knowledgeable about the diseases she treats or the medications. I have filed a complaint with the medical composite board for patient abandonment while in serious need of medical care right before the Thanksgiving holiday. without any other doctor to care for me.

Dr Dawood is a blessing to me. She has been my rheumatologist for four years and I believe, because of her patient persistence, she is the reason my lupus is now under control. Her calm, caring persona just instills comfort. I recommend Dr. Dawood without reservation.

This doctor does not care nor does she has the knowledge to be a doctor! She has an opinion about you before she enters the room and will not listen to you. She will tell you that you are not experiencing pain and based upon her knowledge; you are not experiencing pain as often.

Dr Dawood is dedicated to her patients...She helped me seek out a pharmacy that could fill my prescription at an affordable cost. She shows genuine concern and has the most efficently run office I have been to in a long time...
