Dr. Malinda Marie Newcombe, MD

I never feel rushed. My problems are always resolved. When I leave, I have been treated not just physically but mentally as well. Dr. Newcombe makes sure she tells me everything she is doing and why. She makes sure I understand. I trust her implicitly.

best doctor i ever had, has enough respect for you to listen to your ideas - incredible bedside manner. if only her staff were the same, but whatever i dont come to the doctor for them

Inspires confidence. Has caring attitude. She actually listens to her patient and responds directly. One of the best if not the best family practitioners I've ever had.

Dr. Newcombe is probably one of the most well-informed General Practitioner's in the County. She frequently reads/stays in the loop on new medicines, procedures, and other medical news...which is refreshing. I would say her approach is moderately aggressive, though based on what I've witnessed she probably chooses her approach on a case-by-case....and that would be because she actually takes the TIME to sit and talk with you, get to know a bit about YOU, which knowledge she wisely uses in providing treatment to you. She remembers...or takes the time to read previous notes and inocorporates this "saved" information in making a diagnosis, or, what it's really about, if you watch House that is, ruling OUT what it isn't, which is half the battle. She is a younger doctor but quite savvy--her appearance and demeanor(unassuming, probably shy but has learned to overcome some of it in order to deal with patients) may not exude this...which is where you would have to demonstrate your personal… savvy in even realizing you're dealing with probably "the best as it gets." If you are interested/ in need of diagnostic/rulings out, patience, frequent use of "newer"(she's not over the top...just the type that will stop giving antibiotics lest your body become immune and when you really need them, they won't help you---that kind of break away from the 60 yr. old traditional doctor. She's not radical, just likely to be/use slightly more aggressive approach as she deems fit) methods/treatments...here is where to go.Now that said. While I've been a patient for 3+ yrs., the faces around the office do NOT change. No high turnover which is great. However, there is a certain professionalism and courtesy/kindness lacking at the front counters. The problem is more than one person. Actually where one is quite professional, but lacks any type of genteel manner in dealing with sick people, she's quite efficient and I suspect indisposable...which is likely why she remains. Actually, if you're like me and prefer accuracy over friendly and charismatic(and possibly incompentent), you'll get over it soon and eventually find a subtle mutual respect and understanding in the terseness--she takes her job very seriously and is extremely conscientious. If you simply MUST have the smile, a giggle, small talk, coddling or any type of sympathy (her sympathy is moving you through as effeciently as possible)...then this is NOT the place for you. I rather enjoy myself now, not having to be "on" or pretend. I can state the facts, what I need and be done with it.The unprofessionalism is amongst a couple of people working in around the inside counters. I think a couple are nursing assistants, other(s) are clerical of some type---they are entirely too chatty, have not mastered the art of keeping certain things out of earshot, whether it is THEIR personal business or not. You don't have to be the drill searge, but no one wants to hear about one's daughter's drama, sales at Dillards, endlessly, particularly when the lobby is full....understanding that while one's part of the process may be complete....patients don't perceive it that way and it seems one is "standing around, talking banalities" while they could be doing something to speed up the process(even if they can't.). This type of conditioning/awareness should be made to them. All they have to do is step back, around a corner or something and continue...out of earshot and eyeshot of sick patients. Not Cool.But, obviously! Dr. Newcombe outshines all of these things I guess you just come to accept as the cost (rather small in the scheme of your health, really) to be treated by THE BEST. Guess they all should have some sort of idiosyncrasies "about" them, so the trend goes, right? Like Monk. LOL. Give her a try. I don't believe you'll be disappointed with her at all. Pleasantly shocked, in fact.
