He practically gave me a deposition to start and never touched me. I suspected I had a fistula, he laughed at me when I suggested it (in fact I had 5 after I had exploratory surgery with another doctor). Prescribed me a bunch of medication without taking the time to examine me. After the initial visit I never saw him again, I saw his assistant. I paid the same price to see the assistant which I think is illogical. I requested my records to go elsewhere and when I read my file they had me listed as a 65 year old woman (i was 29). This place and the doctor was a total joke and a disgrace to the medical community.

He's an excellent doctor and good diagnostician and I have recommended him to my friends.

Dr. Bustamante is always in a rush. He does not explain himself and seems disinterested in my case. He orders expensive tests and does not personally follow up with me. His medical assistant, who calls on his behalf, communicates poorly and is not well informed. I have had Crohn's disease for 40+ years, am new to the Naples area and was referred to Dr. Bustamante by my primary care physician. I can honestly sat that my experience with Dr.Bustamante is the first time I have felt that a doctor viewed me as a source of revenue rather than a person.

I only came to Dr. Bustamante since I am new to the area and my gyno referred me to him for some GI issues I was experiencing. I had to wait 4 weeks to finally meet with him and was on a waiting list. I don't know why I didn't look up reviews on him prior to my visit or I would not have wasted my time waiting weeks to see him for a chronic issue. Upon meeting him he was very stoic, not very personable. He asked me about 10 questions and then examined my abdomen quickly and walked out of the room. Luckily for me I had taken it upon myself to get a CT scan and rectal exam two days prior and was able to provide him that information, I don't think he would have done it otherwise. When he returned from the room he ran down a list of medications he wanted me to take for the next month, talking so fast that I could barely keep up. He did not take the time to explain why he believed I should be on these meds and seem to just have one foot out the door to move on to the next patient. Although… the medications have somewhat helped he did no really get to the root of the problem. He immediately simply suggested to do a colonoscopy in order to figure out what was going on. I was not to keen on having such an invasive procedure without exhausting all tests first. What was the final straw was the fact that he scheduled a followup. I came to find out that the followup is not even with Dr. Bustamante himself, but his assistant instead. No offense, but if you don't have time to meet with me for a followup then I wont waste my time paying you money to be your patient.

A friend recommended Dr. Bustamante after I had been ill for months without any resolution from my 'then' gastroenterologist. Dr. Bustamante immediately suspected I had been misdiagnosed and confirmed his suspicions through testing and put me on the proper medicine. I owe him a great deal. He is an excellent diagnostician and explains things in layman's terms. He's always kind and listens. I never feel rushed. I can tell he's reviewed my chart before he sees me. I highly recommend this fine doctor.
