Dr. Mark Thomas Dean, MD

Initially accepted as patient - seen for one visit & X-ray completed with no issues. Declined cortisone shot offered (because long term potential side effects and symptom relief only). Was encouraged by MD and Staff to return if pain increases and want shot. One month later called office in severe pain and was told that MD would not see me ever again because my medicare advantage plan was not in his network (Why did he see me in the first place?). Offered to pay cash/credit card and accept my own reimbursement from insurance. No - they would not help me. Was told by office manager, "You should have gotten the shot in the first place." PCP intervened - MD agreed to administer shot, but "after that he will not see you again." Not smart to have procedure with no assurance of followup for any possible problems, so cancelled appt. although still very uncomfortable.

This morning Paul Nissi had a cortisone shot in his right knee...came home sat on sofa for two hours reading a book...went to get up and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg and fell back to sofa...called a neighbor who tried to work with Paul getting up and still could not put weight on his leg. Our neighbor then call Dr. Deans office.. ( Debbie ?) she stated that has nothing to do with the shot and call your primary Dr.

It's hard to believe that 22 years ago Dr. Dean did my shoulder surgery in Beaufort, SC. To this day I have not had one problem with my shoulder and feels the best it ever has. He is a phenomenal doctor and highly recommended. It was a very complicated surgery and he handled it with ease! Thank you so much, Sunny Armstrong

Dr. Dean has done surgeries on multiple members of my family. In every case he met and exceeded our expectations. That is not to say there was no pain afterwards. Sometimes the problem is so bad that there will be some pain unless you are willing to take more pain meds than we are willing to take. In every case the pain was less than before surgery and after healing , it was gone. You can't beat that!

I can't believe the one negative comment Dr Dean received in the affor-mentioned negative review. I had both of my knees replaced within one year and found Dr Dean to be very professional and attentive. The person must of had a bad hair Day!!!!!

Found Dean to be disrespectful and obnoxious! Total disregard for his patients. I need shoulder surgery but it Won't be by him.

The best knee doctor I have ever been to. I had a total knee revision about 2 years ago and had great results!

Will be seeing Dr. Dean this week for shoulder pain. Dr. Dean has operated on me twice, once on my knee, and once on my shoulder. The professionalism both Dr. Dean and his staff show is beyond reproach. Both surgeries went very well, I couldn't be happier.

Forced to give 5...no option of 6 !!! He rocks!
