She was the absolute worst. We scheduled an appt 6 weeks ago for my child and she refused to see us because we wanted only a consultation and not a full exam. She obviously wanted to upcharge us. Her front office was extremely rude - esp the manager. She would not explain anything and basically was forcing us to pay more for a visit we may or may not need. She did not explain to us why a full exam was needed. The doctor would not even talk to us even though we had an appt and made one 6 weeks ago. Very disappointing. I would NOT go here. She is only after upcharging patients and $. There was no care or feeling as if they wanted to help people in that office.

We have been going back and forth visiting different doctors for my daughters eye. Dr. Kern narrowed it down and said The diagnosis. Which was a rare conjunctival Nevus. She’s amazing. The duration of her office visits are about 2 hrs but I get it! She’s thorough. Her OR team at VHC are just a God sent. The did everything right for my daughter and kept us comfortable and calm every step. Her follow up visits were the following day and she’s just remarkable. I highly highly recommend her.

Highly professional and knowledgeable. My 5 yr old got poked in the cornea by a classmate accidentally. Had a very bad , deep corneal ulcer. Dr. Kern saved his eye. Thanks to her for saving his vision also ( another ophthalmologist told that he might lose vision in that eye). But, Dr. Kern did an amazing job with that. ??

My daughter loves her yearly visits to the eye Doctor thanks to Dr, Kern and her assistant Ruth.

My children have been Dr. Karen’s patients since they were toddlers. She is a great doctor. I highly respect and recommend her, but her staff are very rude with patients. I’ve been complaining about this for years now . Every time I call to schedule an appointment or go for a visit, I find the worse staff full of ignorance and rudeness. Dr. Karen should listen to her patients complaints.

Doctor Kern needs to clean the place up Rude staff , filthy conditions, run down waiting room Dr Kern needs to retire Horrible with children

I do not recommend Dr. Kern. She seemed confused and went back and forth on her recommendation for treatment of my child. Also, she was not good at all with my child so I question how often she sees children. She may be better with adults but I do not recommend taking a child to see her. I had zero confidence in her so sought two more opinions from doctors that seem much more competent. I have never commented on a doctor online but felt compelled to do so in this case because my experience was so terrible.

I think Dr. Kern is a good doctor but the policies of the office are a NIGHTMARE. They cancelled my son's surgery the evening before. I had grandparents flying in to help, took off 4 weeks of work, etc and THEY CANCELLED! Then I cancelled a regular visit and they charged me $75. They cost me $1200 in plane change fees. She is rude, self-righteous and the staff is a NIGHTMARE. Then -- you wait 2.5 hours and they wonder why a 3 year old is mad and can't sit to read the chart. Time for a new doctor/practice.

I went with my 15 month old daughter for an eye check up and have Cigna POS , once I made the appointment the front desk was so friendly of telling me I needed a referral to be seen by an specialist . I was so glad they told me because I never knew that once I got off the phone I called my daughter pediatrician and they knew what I was taking about as an responsible parent my responsibility was to make sure I had that referral because I made agreement with my insurance . Also the friendly reminders of the referral they made sure I had it . The doctor was friendly and answer any questions you needed. The staff always was there to help out if you had more questions and how they made her smile so she wouldn't be scared if you want a place to feel comfortable with your child this is the place to go !!!

This is like a trend I have been here more three time and each time I have to spend more than one hour to complete my visit. They mau tell you uou have silate uiur eyes and belah belah But we all these thy atill can fininsh the work in 35 minutes. They may think they are efficient from their point of view but not from customer view point. I believe you need to take a half day off to come here . If you don't believe just try it.
