Dr. Mitzi June Barmatz, MD

This doctor might be a capable surgeon. I would venture to guess not, but she might be. Regardless of her abilities, thinking of her as a doctor of anything terrifies me. She should be made to brush up on “the art of medicine” or even just “how to interact as a human being”. In addition to that, she might do well to go through some sensitivity training- referring to a larger patient’s “absolute girth” might not be the most tactful way to have that conversation. Also, wanting to do a surgery on a patient without any imaging then telling the patient she’s “doing them a favor” then whining to the same patient about her “long day“ which started at 8am should hardly be considered a best practice. If you draw the short straw and end up with this dr in the hospital- I recommend requesting another doctor.

I have had a hard time finding Doctors that I am comfortable with since moving to Tucson 7 years ago, but by the luck of the draw, going to the emergency room several months ago I met Dr Barmatz, not only did Dr Barmatz get the job done, Dr Barmatz made me feel comfortable and informed all the way thru....Thanks Doc

Be cautious of this doctor. She is procedure orientated. When I asked her about a 2015 urological study demonstrating that only 2% of patient that were given an often painful, invasive, and dangerous procedure. Dr Barmatz responded with, "Men are wimps." I later sent questions through the patient portal that were ignored. Be prepared to do exactly what she suggest or be rejected.

You know right away when you find a really sharp doc - one that is not only very competent but also a pleasure to know (and that's a requirement for my wife and I). Dr Mitzi Barmatz is one of those docs - she impressed me the moment I first met her. She performed a minor surgical repair on me and I couldn't be happier with the results. I will continue seeing her annually - she's definitely on my A-team.

I have been seen as a patient by Dr. Barmatz for over 3 years and found her very good until I wanted a second opinion on a surgery and she dismissed me as a patient. Her reason was we has scheduled surgery twice and I had to cancel because of very serious falls. One that fractured my back and one that bruised my ribs and the third that injured my arm to the point I could even drive. When another doctor I was seeing suggested I see this other doctor to get another opinion on the surgery she dismissed me as a patient and said I couldn't see any of the other doctors in her office either. I found no compassion with her in this situation. No one has ever said I did not have the right to a second opinion.

Without a doubt, Dr. Barmatz is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. She is kind, thorough, takes the time to answer questions, cares about her patients, and clearly knows her stuff. If you have the misfortune of having to go to a urologist, she is the best.

Dr. listened and explained findings well. She was very compassionate & caring . Just love her, Also received good care from the nurse pract.. Dr. Barmatz followed up on what was happening with me through my daughter whom I had given consent for her to do so.

I L-O-V-E my new athletic sling to stop leeking urine after 3 big babies! Dr. barmatz was awesome and I am running without leeking for the first time in 8 years since my third child was born. I just wish I would have heard about her sooner!

My experience with Dr Barmatz was very positive. She has many years' experience in her field, and I understand performs the largest amount of female bladder surgeries in Tucson. She is easy to talk to and explains thoroughly. I give her the highest recommendation.

I now drive 40 mile one way to see Dr. Barmitz. I don't mind this as she is very good. She is thorough and takes time to talk and listen. She is also very busy which tells me something.
