She's a good doctor. Also liked how the office doesn't make you wait two mos. for an appt. as a new patient or require a referral which, I've found most neuros in the area do. Areas of improvement: wait too long before I actually saw Dr. Also, doctor wasn't interested in treating or informed about a certain condition I had. Inclined towards generalized diagnosis's like "trigeminal neuralgia" or "cranial neuritis." Well, no kidding...what's the cause? However, did agree with tests she ordered. And she's nice. Just would only recommend her for headaches or vertigo not something complex where symptoms are varied don't fit into a straight pattern.

I waited 30 minutes to be seen by the doctor. During my visit she had to tend to her cell phone. There are tons of neurologists in San Diego with more years of experience, there is no special reason to see Dr. Patel.

I found Dr Patel to be attentive and very willing to hear me out in terms of my presenting problem. After 30-years of struggling with seeing neurologists who have told me the same old thing, I found Dr Patel’s treatment recommendations to be fresh in approach and very different than any other practitioner. I also found her to be very up to date on new and the most current medications to treat my headaches. She is very different from any other practioner I’ve seen even in the recent past. I personally highly recommend Dr Patel to those who need a fresh approach to treating headaches and other neurological disorders.

My first visit with Dr. Patel was a traumatizing disaster! As I walked in, I witnessed an elderly patient who had waited 6 weeks for her appointment and driven 35 miles, turned away for being ONE minute late! My intervention was to no avail and the poor woman left in anger and tears! Dr. Patel was recommended to me by my prior neurologist whom I highly admired and respected. I waited 8 weeks for my appointment and was seeking relief for my various chronic pains and conditions! But all she did was reiterate facts I already knew, recommend a repeat test which my neurosurgeon had said was not necessary, and other tests to run up charges! The last straw was that she refused to even prescribe muscle relaxant to relieve my pain!

How do you write a thank you to someone for saving your life!? I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Monali S. Patel; she is caring, professional, gentle, and gives matters the Urgency and Heart required! Dr. Patel and Danielle both have my eternal gratitude! Getting a brain tumor diagnosis is hard enough without it landing on New Year's Eve and I am so grateful that she is as extremely intelligent and knowledgeable as she is, in neurology, because she recognized that my case needed immediate attention (I had emergency brain surgery less than a week after my first appointment with her). Throughout my recovery, she and Danielle have been there to help me manage my pain, symptoms, and minor relapses. I initially thought I had migraine and vertigo problems, but it turned out I had a a malignant brain tumor. She has expertly and calmly navigated me through the process of diagnosing my condition and recovery. I 100% recommend Dr. Monali S. Patel, Neurologist!!
