Dr. Nicholas Newsum was raised in Lakewood, Colorado, just west of Denver. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder where he graduated with distinction. He then went to medical school in Ohio at the University of Toledo where he was elected into the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Honor Society by his peers for his outstanding interpersonal and compassionate clinical care. He was also selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society as a 3rd year student, an honor only given to the top 4% of medical students in the country. He then completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he participated in the care of all Florida Gators sports programs Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Hand, Wrist, Elbow and Microsurgery at the nationally recognized Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL under Dr. Mark Cohen. There he received specialized training in …orthopaedic handsurgery. During his time there, he participated in the care of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox.
