Before the surgery Peter Sarantos stated the surgery would be easy and I wouldn't have complications because laparoscopic surgery is safe. Those were his famous last words. During the surgery Peter Sarantos was not careful and he tore blood vessels during the laparoscopic procedure. After the surgery he made no mention of tearing anything. Instead he told me a lie. He concocted this lie to explain away the large incisions. It was supposed to be laparoscopic surgery with minimal cutting but I have two large incisions. I found out the truth what actually happened during the surgery by obtaining my medical records. This explains why Peter Sarantos and his PA were so nervous after the surgery. They both lied to me. According to the medical records Peter Sarantos had to make the large incisions to repair the torn blood vessels because they were bleeding uncontrollably. That is what actually happened. He deliberately lied to me to cover his mistake but it only created more serious problems.… Shortly after I was discharged the torn blood vessels ruptured and I suffered an internal hemorrhage. I fell to the floor from the pain and crawled to the phone for an ambulance. I had emergency surgery. The ER team at NFRMC saved my life. The hemorrhage filled my pelvic cavity with blood and blocked the blood flow to my right leg and caused a DVT. That was also intensely painful. It was supposed to be an outpatient procedure but it turned into a 9 day hospital stay with 4 days in the ICU and hospital bills >$238,000- all because of Peter Sarantos carelessness and lies. Peter Sarantos should be grateful for the ER team at NFRMC for saving my life. I would like to see him lie his way out of the death of a perfectly healthy person over a simple hernia surgery.

I had an awful experience with Peter Sarantos as my surgeon. Peter Sarantos was not careful during the surgery and he tore blood vessels near my bladder. But to make matters worse, after the surgery he and his PA lied to me. They said I had excessive bleeding during the surgery but did not know the cause. I found out the hard way about Sarantos’ surgical mistake. Hours after discharge the sutures holding the torn blood vessels together ruptured and I hemorrhaged internally. My pelvic cavity filled with blood. It felt like being shot in the groin. I fell to the floor, crawled across the floor to the phone and called 911. I was rushed back to the ER where they cut me open to washout the blood clot from my pelvic cavity. I suffered the following injuries: Excruciating out of control pain Massive blood loss DVT to the right leg Nerve damage to my bladder A need for surgery because the emergency surgery damaged the original surgery Dr Sarantos also exercised poor judgement by placing… a blood clot filter in my body without consulting a specialist. The hematologist later said the blood clot filter was unnecessary and it can cause complications later.

I had serious complications after hernia surgery-internal bleeding which required emergency surgery 8 hours after discharge. I also had a blood clot in the leg that was treated by a more competent physician. Find someone else. This guy is bad news.
