Dr Sierra is absolutely incredible. I had hip dysplasia with hip impingement. I had a very complex hip and had to have a PAO with a femoral derotaion. It was a very complex surgery and he did a terrific job. I went from having terrible pain to absolutely none! I love basketball and never knew if I would play again but i am thanks to him. I recommend him to anyone. He gave me my life back!

I was a little concerned about seeing Dr. Sierra after reading some of these online reviews, especially since I flew over 1,000 miles to see him. I am so happy I didn’t base my decision to see him on the reviews I read. Dr. Sierra was absolutely wonderful! He spent much more time with me than expected and listened to every concern I had. He addressed every question I had and never once made me feel stupid about my questions or concerns. Not only did he include me but he also included my mother and husband in the conversation about my condition and treatment options which was so awesome to me! He not only addressed my questions and concerns but also the questions and concerns of my family members! He made sure I understood everything and also gave me hope & made me feel good about the fact that I’m not dealing with my medical issues alone. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family! Thank you Dr. Sierra for taking the time to accept me as your patient!

Sierra is the worst orthopedist you can ever trust. I had a previous condition in my hip. I went to a local clinic because my knee was getting swollen and they told me I needed an arthroscopy. I saw him for a second opinion and he told me the knee swelling came from my hip, so I should have my hip replaced and everything would be perfect!! Because it was Mayo Clinic, I thought I could trust him and put my health in his hands. I put myself under his knife 5 years ago and instead of improving my quality of life, he made it a lot worse. He told me after the surgery he was going to leave me with full motion, and because before I had a difference of 1/4 of an inch in that leg, he would make my legs even. Guess what: He left my hip with NO flexibility; my femur is now misplaced and it's crooked towards the inside. In addition, he left my leg 3 INCHES SHORTER than the other!! After the surgery I had to go to physical therapy for 3.5 years, I lost one full year of work and now I can not… walk more than 2 blocks, I can not sit longer than 45 minutes and I can not go on long drives or travel long distances because my lower back will hurt badly which gives me migraine headaches. Also, I can not kneel, neither can I cook, sweep the floor or do any housekeeping at home. In addition, I can not stand for more than 7 minutes, carry things, dance, put my shoes or socks on, entertain, present papers at conferences, which is required for my profession, or do any volunteer in my community which is also a requirement for my profession. Because of the malposition in which he left the femur, when I urinate, all the urine runs down my leg. And because of the same reason of the femur's malposition, I can not have sexual intercourse. As the other person who wrote a comment on him, he never informed me of his mistakes or of the fact that I was going to be left with all those issues for the rest of my life. It has his professor, Dr. Cabanela who had the guts to tell me that the way Sierra left me after the surgery is the way I was going to be for the rest of my life.

I flew 3000 miles to see this guy, because he was recommended. Maybe...he is a great doctor, a fantastic surgeon who intensely cares about his patients, however my initial impression of him was less than lukewarm. While he did nothing overtly wrong, he spent less than 5 minutes evaluating me, very little eye contact, only asked one or two questions other than what did other doctors say, and his complete evaluation appeared to be based on what the other doctor said,. No physical evaluation, no palpation of my joint or normal questions that would aid in a "thorough" diagnosis, just looking at x rays. He appeared bored, rather full of himself and acted like he did not want to be there, in a rush, his body language was sit way back in his chair, feet sprawling forward, like a kid in a class he hates, and no, he did not look tired at all, his eyes were clear,no dark circles or other tell tale signs of exhaustion, just completely uninterested in me as a patient and in a rush to go… somewhere. He wore ostentatiously expensive suit and shoes. Seriously not super impressed with this man, on the human sided anyway.

This man dropped me three times during hip replacement surgery fracturing both hips, completely shattering my left. Many will automatically view this statement harshly, I get it. These are the good guys, right? This really happened, though. I have some form of spinal injury that has been kept from me for 3 1/2 years. I've been walking around for 3 1/2 years with fractures in both hips that have been replaced. The injuries he caused are so severe and rare that I can prove my case against him by simply having a doctor properly assess me. But, no doctor will touch me now so I've endured severe chronic pain on a scale that is hard to comprehend. If he makes a mistake he will never tell you. You will suffer the rest of your life with no explanation offered.

I would highly recomment Dr. Sierra to anyone having problems with their hips. I had a previous procedure done by another doctor and it didn't work for me. I was left on crutches and in worse pain than before the first surgery. Dr. Sierra operatated on my hip 10 weeks ago and I am doing so much better now. To be without that nagging pain for the first time in a long time is amazing. Dr. Sierra is very professional, kind and knowledable in all things hip related.
