Dr. Richard William Tobin Jr, MD

This Doctor was very rude to both myself and my caregiver. Twisted my legs around causing severe pain, then said "I don't see anything wrong" and walked out before I could ask him anything. That night my knees were so swollen it looked like I had footballs in place of knees. Worst doctor I have ever been to.

Dr. Tobin is an excellent surgeon! His staff is very courteous and professional. I would recommend him to anyone. He's one of the best!

He is the doctor to see for rotator cuff injury. I was well impressed with him.

The clinic is now known as Hope Orthopedics. The Dr. is very busy, but I found it worth the wait. My diagnosis was accurate and service was excellent. He is "no nonsense" and to the point, but still very personable. I find that refreshing. Clinic staff bent over backwards to assist me with everything. My surgery was a complete success and I couldn't be happier....

I have waited up to three hours to see the Doctor. He gets so far behind, He does not spend enough time to answer questions. Most of the time it takes three weeks or more to get an appointment. His bedside matter is the worst. His office has failed many times to call in medications.

I read the prior review and I suspect the writer did not realize that she needed treatment from a primary care MD for pain management prior to her surgery. I have been very comfortable with the level of pain management I've received, although my PCP participates in my care. I've had all of my calls to Dr. Tobin and Maria returned and addressed in a prompt and satisfactory manner and have found followup during recuperation to be excellent.Pain management is getting to be a difficult area in Oregon and surgeons typically are a bit more cautious, as they are not able to follow their patients as closely. There's a clear difference in the interaction with a surgeon v. an Internal Medicine or Family Practice physician, but I personally was very satisfied with the care I received, and, most importantly, have confidence that the surgery itself was done competently. I may need surgery on the opposite limb in the near future, and I will most certainly return to Dr. Tobin. (I'd like to add that I… found every one of the staff, including the terrific PTs, very courteous and caring, and heard similar positive opinions from other patients while waiting.)

Do not go to this Doctor is you want competent care.My pre-op visit went well, but surgery was delayed a month, with increasingly terrible pain. I requested pain medications and the nurse, Maria refused to give me anything for the pain. Post-op I have had inadequate care and follow-up from this Doctor and insufficient pain management. I would not recommend him or his staff to anyone who needs good follow up and expect courtesy from the staff.
