Dr. Robert Steven Knego, MD

I was very blessed to have been referred to Dr. Knego by my Chiropractor Dr. Rhodes. I had a herniated disc with a fragment that broke off and lodged between the spinal column and vertebra. Dr. Knego operated on me as an outpatient, after 3 days I no longer needed pain medication. My recovery was without incident and I was back to normal activity in a very short period of time. His amazing support Staff is a pleasure to deal with and they make you feel very comfortable and show they really care about you as a patient. I highly recommend Dr. Knego.

I had a lot of pain radiating out of my left scapula area and was under the care of a G.P. doctor who only suggested I take painkillers and an anti-inflammatory. No x-rays, no anything... For 6 weeks. I changed doctors, and was ordered an x-ray and then follow up with CT scan. I had 2 discs totally blown out, and one bulging which caused the incredible pain. Referral to Dr Knego... AND he was fantastic. He did discectomy and cervical fusion. This was in 2003 and now 17 years later, everything still in order. I have recommended him to many people and think that his expertise and skills put him as the best neurosurgeon on the West Coast of Florida.

I saw Dr Knego’s, Physician Assistant, Jared. Based on Dr Knego’s reviews and Jared’s expertise, I felt confident meeting Dr Knego the AM of my surgery. The office staff was all helpful and friendly. The nurses were great. Except for the pain of the surgery, I woke up not hurting & with no numbness & tingling. I am very happy with my choice and I highly recommend Dr Knego and his staff.

I took my elderly mother to Dr. Knego on the recommendation from another orthopedic physician advise for treatment of a serious neck fracture. Dr. Knego was condescending, rude, unempathetic and impatient with her. It is apparent he is not interested in treating geriatric patients and it shows in every way possible. He may be talented but if you have a older parent needing treatment, my advise is to run the other way.

I am in real pain went to see his assistant and took for various X-rays, Ct scans & MRI. My apt with Dr Knego was at 11:00 AM on a Monday morning. At 8:30 I rec'd a call that his daughters had a car accident and to reschedule for the following week. I became histerical crying and feeling suicidal ask if another associate Dr could See me NO any suggestions on any other Dr NO, No statement to give me any comfort. The office is heartless and not caring at all. Dr K is very qualified I am sure but the office attitude leaves something to be desired.

He believes that you should try every option available to make sure that surgery is necessary. If it is, then he is wonderful!!!

The first time I came in, I saw the PA. He was very helpful and explained the issues I had and what surgery was going to be needed. When I saw Dr. Knego, he suggested that since the surgery was going to be extensive, if I wanted to hold off, he thought I should try other options first. After sever months, and numerous options, I concluded that it was necessary for surgery. Prior to the surgery, he called me on the phone and we talked for at least half an hour going over everything and decided that the extensive procedure would not be necessary and opted for a lesser surgery, but that would still take care of the severe spinal stenosis of L5-6 and LS1-2. The procedure went well, and although I am 73 years old, healed remarkably quickly and he was wonderful as well after the surgery. He and his PA fought for me when the hospital wanted to release me and send me home after only 3 days rather than sending me to rehab, where I finally went to recover and rehabilitate. I couldn't… have done it on my own.

Disregards medical evidence and refers patients through multiple testing and specialists. Always behind schedule and wait time could run as long as 3+ hours at times. His bed side manner needs major improvement!
